I say "annoying" because, initially, it seems quite a cool capability. However, after some 4,500km I find that it has become annoying when indicating left or right (at very low speed or stationary). I know that I can turn off the triggering of the side cameras but, ideally, I would like to be able to turn the respective side camera on ONLY when I want as opposed to it triggering at each junction and then not always returning to Apple Car Play and my needing to select it again manually; all of which is not conducive to safe driving.
Any ideas or solution to this ?

I've been encountering the same, especially when you are creeping up to the intersection waiting for your turn, the camera's keep coming back on. I've got half a mind of turning the function off as I feel it interferes more often than being useful, but then I do sometimes like it. I think it's an all or nothing though.

Can't the "star"-buttons solve your problem?

YES! I had missed this Star options include the 360 camera on/off. So I have set the default to be off and will now see how it works on the (likely rare) instances when I wish to see directly to my right or left. Thanks for your thoughts @webhiker

How do you turn off the side cameras when turning please?
Does it turn off cameras in any other condition? Front camera when parking?
First, activate the camera screen, then press the little 'cog' icon at the bottom right of the screen, you'll then see an option to turn on/off 'Camera activation when using turn signals', or words to that effect.
