After much online research and review watching on YouTube, I think I’m ready to make the jump from my diesel Fiat 500L to an EV. And the MG ZS ticks a lot of boxes for me and my young family.

Looking at a 2021 model, so wondering what the pros and cons have been from people driving them for a long period?

search MG ZS forum, there are already few threads; my personal recommendation, go for 2022 model. Also discussed in another thread. ?

I agree with Fred, the 22 model had a lot of improvements, you can recognise it easily by the blank front grill

If you are moving on from a fiat 500L I would also consider the MG4, it is a better car for most circumstances, is roomy and surprisingly very good to drive. Just depends on your circumstances (ZS has very good ground clearance but is a tad more wallowy and not so satisfying to drive).
I concur with the above, definately go for the 2022+ (upgraded) model.

Thanks for the reply ?

I think I prefer the look of the gen 1 version personally. But will look into 22 models.

The ZS ticks a lot more boxes than the MG4 for me and I’m wanting to move more into an SUV style vehicle. Car sick passengers prefer to be a little higher up for those longer drives ?‍♂️ ?

The ZS is wallowy, not great for car sickness

unless you stick to the speed limit ?... joking aside, yes, it wobbles a bit but driving in "eco-style" will help. Sunroof model also helps to those in rear seats

I was thinking the same, couldn't stand the plasticky front of Mk2 ZS but - that aside (and you don't really spend that much time looking at it!) , Mk2 ticks quite a few other boxes for not much more money ... go to any dealer and sit in the car for a while and compare the two.
I spent at least an hour sitting in ZS, MG4 and MG5 comparing the space, feel, headroom ... before deciding on ZS Mk2 or MG5 Mk1.

I'm indifferent about the grill on the MK2, it doesn't bother me, but it could be more inspired.
Luscombe Leeds were offering a "Black Edition" which was various parts having trim vinyl added, I think a few people did DIY copies

? This is not a car for car sickness sufferers.
I had a back seat passenger on a long trip a couple of weeks ago who claimed she often suffered from car sickness (she mentioned her husband's Audi in particular) and was very complimentary about how smooth the ride was.
It's not a car for throwing around and will get bouncy if you try, but it rewards being driven smoothly.

Interesting.

It's probably the most unsettled ride in a car I've ever experienced. It's the worst case scenario for sicknesses sufferers from what I can tell: very smooth but very wallowey and unsettled. On top of that you have the lane assist stuff kicking in mid corner that throws the whole thing into spasms.

I think part of the problem is the relatively short wheel base compared to the right height and length of the car. MG 5 is very similar. A classic feature of old school Chinese design.

My wife hates being a passenger on B roads in it.

Turn the lane assist off then

The lane assist is discussed at length elsewhere. It's a total liability so I switched it off the day I got the car and have left it that way ever since.

SUV's are naturally either wallowy or too stiffly sprung. I prefer the comfortable option and it just encourages me to slow down a bit.
