Whilst a completely different model, some of the points the owner made are very concerning.
My car as I have documented on here before had an Emissions fault issue which took two attempts to get sorted.
I am hoping, given that this video was from a year ago, that MG UK have pulled their socks up, and in this regard, both the technician who was working on the above problem, and MG technical were both working to resolve it in a timely manner.
Part of me does wonder if I didn’t have a courtesy car from the dealer, whether they would have been as keen, but I could just be being cynical!
I have since learnt courtesy of the UK addition of the online handbook, that it’s not advisable to drive the car with this fault to avoid damage to your he catalytic converter. The dealer told me it was ok to continue to use the car, and i would say to anyone else experiencing this issue, to take care of what the dealer says!
Finally, what resonates is the experience this owner experienced from the various dealerships.
In my case after the first attempt to fix the problem, the service advisor told me; it wasn’t their fault the problem had returned, and they just did what MG told them to do! Not quite what I was expecting, but I can’t say customer service was high on her priorities at any stage of my dealings.
In short, whilst there are glimmers of hope in MG and its after sales trying to get things sorted, the days of selling a handful of budget models from smaller franchises, and hope they don’t get too many ‘difficult customers’ are gone. Selling the Cyberster at 55-60k will see a much more demanding customer who won’t settle for the old budget car post sales experience.
