Timed Charging

Yes. You can do it in the car, or in the ISmart app. This would be suggested if you only have a "dumb" charge point - if you have a "smart" charge point then setting schedules in there would probably make more sense.

If you do use the car for scheduling then don't forget!

Otherwise when you are away from home and trying to charge it won't do it outside the chosen times ?

Thanks for replies. Problem is not a dumb charger at home but it won't pick up wifi from my router despite using boosters, stone walls in the way. In-car timing may be the way but I don't find how in the downloaded manual.

Just type in MG 4 manual then you can download the one that suits you be aware that it is 350 + pages. So download it to a iPad if you have one it’s easier to read and follow the the directions

Or worse, you have a timer set to stop charging at 3pm (for Winter solar charging), and you're at a shopping centre and start a charge at 2:55pm. All looks good. I take my time shopping, and come back to find it's not charging, and in fact I only had 5 minutes of charging! ??

Can you access the settings if you take your phone very near the device?

Some smart devices have their own little network to which you can connect.

I have the MG4 manual downloaded but cannot find a reference to setting charging times from within the car.

The issue of connecting the charger (Pod Point) with wifi is a bit more complex. The connection appears intermittent. It works when the Skoda Citigo is charging but very occasionally for the MG4. I suspect that the router signal is marginal and the larger profile of the MG usually blanks off the signal. There is little scope for changing the position of the cars when charging.
I will persist with positioning the wifi boosters but cannot have them outside in the rain!

I do it on the Ismart app.

Battery -> Settings (Top right symbol) -> scheduled charging.

Haven't done it within the car itself. But if you have a trophy the software might be different anyway.

I thought the same except recent very early airport trip Car was set to scheduled timed charge (dumb charger) and I used iSmart app to start charging (at home), outside of the schedule which surprised me it worked, don't know if it can be done away from home as don't charge very often on AC 7kW chargers and have read DC chargers will charge anyway even if scheduled charge set but not tried this.

It is very easy to set up the charging time using the infotainment screen. Just tap the charge icon and then tap on the settings gearwheel icon to access the scheduled charging times. More reliable than the ismart app.
