Many years ago when crossply tyres were still a thing, I had the tracking checked on my first car. The mechanic informed me that they set the track correctly then do a small adjustment to compensate for the camber of the roads. I took this at face value and to a point still think it might be what is done. Have I been mistaken for the last 45 years or was it an old wives tale, or does it have some validity?

Only if you ask them too m8.

If you ask for the tracking to be done, then that's exactly what they will do.

I also make sure to ask them to put my steering wheel to dead ahead, if it's not already.

In fact as you probably know, if the steering wheel is going on the wonk, it is a good clue that your tracking is going out.

I've had an all singing and dancing Hunter Alignment (Hawkeye) done in the past which covers everything.

Very interesting if you have never seen one and a good idea to add as a check when you spend out on some new tyres.
(IMO)

TBH, I can only recall having it had done twice, which I know is a bit remiss. Up till recently only ever had cheap cars, cheap tyres , cars were just runarounds , bikes the passion. The reason I ask is that our friends live 6 months a year each in France and England , the car is RHD quite new but bought secondhand and they recently had the wheels balanced , the French mechanic reporting that the tyres were wearing on the inside edges. Running for half a year with cambers on opposite sides may have contributed to this unusual wear if the tracking had been originally configured for GB use. Which takes me back to the original query.

It's in the manual but doesn't say XPOWER specific.

Could be identical to standard car but I very much doubt it.

Yes I did see that in the manual, but I presume the hunter system has software that's already downloaded into it?

You'd have thought so. Put apparently not. If you've phoned a few garages. And they say. "MG says No" Find that hard to believe, even though we are talking about MG. 🤔🙄

Maybe they're normal, and as expected (I know nothing about this field) ... but looking at the front wheel camber and toe-in settings, the allowable ranges are far greater than the target settings. 🤷‍♂️

Camber = -57' to +33'
Toe-in = -6' to +18'

You can find your specs for alignment in the user manual by the way, if you find yourself at a place that hasn't had their machine's software updated in a while.

Just found the X Power Specific tracking details in the cars on board manual.

You will notice that is is Exactly the same as the standard car.

Hi
I had my pfl MG5 lowered last month on eibach springs
The place I had them done couldn’t do a full alignment so I phoned around places in Barnsley where I live and most of them said they didn’t have the data for MG
So I was given a lead to Slide Motorsport who deal with drift cars in Pontefract
I gave them a call and they said no problem
When they had finished I was told that the toe was on the end of the tolerance, so both front wheels pointing out.
So maybe everyone should get there alignment checked
All is good now
Car looks much better at a lower ride height
😃👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

You wouldn't have thought they where the same, would you. But obviously they must be. Good info though. Something to show the Garage, if it's not in there machine. 🙂👍

My thoughts exactly m8.

I would have had money on something being a little bit different what with it having an extra motor and slightly different infrastructure up front.
