We've had our 23 ZS long range for about a year, still love it, and are now planning a trip from Cherbourg down to the Dordogne. Any tips re. Tours, charging cards, cost etc would be greatly appreciated.

We did the same trip (from Calais) in Sept. Paid for all fast chargers with Electroserse RFID (Ionity, Lidl, Total and Engie). Most (but not all) motorway service stations have at least 6 fast chargers. Also paid for AC (mobive where we were) with Electroverse. Personally I wouldnt rely on apps. Internet connection not always reliable, even on motorway. We've had our 23 ZS long range for about a year, still love it, and are now planning a trip from Cherbourg down to the Dordogne. Any tips re. You can do the Dordogne route avoiding big spend on tolls. It's one of those routes where the payages only offer a small advantage, particularly if you are stopping to charge anyway. We did the same trip (from Calais) in Sept. Best tip though, get yourself a motorway tag. Makes life so much easier.
Cost us about the same to charge the car as we paid in motorway tolls.
Thanks, Rex. I'll get a chargemap card. I've yet to successfully use a Tesla charger. I spoke to our dealer today who says we don't need an update to use them, just the app so I'll try again before our service next week.I did the Dordogne last summer in my short range.
I planned the route around these 3 chargers pretty much exclusively:
Tesla
Ionity
Lidl
I then took a chargemap card to pick up discounts and AC.
France is pretty good for 22kW AC - it's everywhere, which is good if you have a Zoe. DC rapids are probably more spare than the UK, but they are reliable.
When you plug in, you don't select/tap a card.I got the Tesla app, registered a card, found a "charge all cars" Tesla charger (Kingsley Village, Cornwall). Plugged in, tapped a card which it accepted . Nothing. No charge, just sat there. Is it me, the charger or the car?![]()
