Hi all

I’m a happy owner of a ZS mk1.

I’ve just noticed today that the type 2 cable does not lock unless charging.

My expectation is that the cable would lock when the car is locked.

I definitely know it locks as soon as I start my charging because I can hear the lock engage and I’ve given it a quick tug (before I see any power output through my charger app) and it’s definitely locked.

As soon as I stop charging it locks again.

I guess it’s not the end of the world but technically anybody could unplug my car since I only have it start charging at midnight.

Does anybody know if this is something that can be sorted?

Many thanks

I think you can lock it manually on the screen in the charging settings, there is a lock symbol (at least there is on the Mk2).

I think it locks when it establishes connection with the charger. Do you have a timer on the charger or use the car's timer?

My charger is on all the time and I use the car to schedule the charge hence when I plug it in the port locks after a few seconds whether the car is locked or not.

Yeah, this is what I was going to suggest, if the timer is on the car, then it will lock when you lock the car, whereas, if you have the timer on the charger, then it won't register that it is plugged in so won't lock.

I think they have the Mk1 which i'm not sure if it has the timer in the car

Again a Mk2 but I set the timer on the charger and so plug in and lock the car which locks the cable even when not charging.

Hi, I just checked my Mk1 and an unpowered Type 2 cable does lock when I lock the car. I think it unlocks when power goes off then locks again after the end of a charge even if the car is unlocked as when the car is unlocked and the cable unpowered I have to open a door to get it to unlock or press the unlock button on the remote.
I suggest checking you have up to date software on the inverter when you can?
In the meantime maybe you have a small padlock like I used for anti-theft on a car with a type 1 cable (always possible to disconnect). I used to loop the cable round something and back through the padlock.
