Hi, i have phase 1 luxury (24 plate) unfortunately the phase 2 was out of stock :(.

I noticed that the phase 2 and phase 1 have different wheel sizes. 235/45R18 vs 215/50R17 (as the current SE)

My question is there is any differences in terms of car stability at curved roads/sporty driving/efficiency/comfort?

@salty is our wheel and tyre expert and will no doubt, be along shortly.

My tuppence ha'penny, is not really.
Not at sane legal road speeds anyway.

Grip versus comfort is always going to be subjective and down to what you really want as a driving experience from your car.

The 215/50/17 will be more comfortable.
The 235/45/18 will be more sporty, as there's more tyre tread on the road, and tyre wall won't flex quite as much.
Efficiency, not much difference between them, as they'll both be the same diameter. Looks/style, wise 18s all day long, imo. ??

I think Tesla quote a lower WLTP for 20 vs 19 on the model 3, more rolling resistance for the same overall diameter? The deeper sidewall on the 17s will cope a little better with the awful potholes we have.

Actually it does affect efficiency a good bit, e.g MG advertises the MG5 Trophy with a WLTP of 314miles vs SE 326 miles, the only noticeable difference is rim size (17” vs 16” ).
Real world consumption figures by owners seem to suggest an even bigger (10% +) improvement driving on ‘smaller’ wheels…

That's only 12 miles, it's neither here nor there. Personally that wouldn't bother me at all. For a much better looking motor. ??

I get your gist. but the only time you can see it as others do, is by driving past plate glass shop fronted windows and glancing sideways. Come on ,own up you do don't yer! :D :D

Ahem......

Post in thread 'Graunching Mirror Folding.' Graunching Mirror Folding.

Even better when the shop you're going by is a Bathroom Shop! ?
