U disk identity failure

So out of the blue a new fault has come up.

Connecting phone through USB cable brings up 'U disk identity failure'. The inbuilt (rubbish) SatNav and radio still work but anything from the phone such as Waze, Spotify (unless through Bluetooth) won't

I've done the infotainment reboot and done a factory reset but the problem isn't going away -anyone got any ideas?

This car is the least user friendly, and most woeful in all aspects I've had the misfortune to be the keeper of

Try a new USB lead or a wireless adaptor.

Hi, tried 2nd and third USB lead without any success. Going to try disconnecting the battery next, or running it into a tree

If the first plan fails, then the second plan may just do the trick ! ?.
The 12 volt disconnect is the likely cure TBH.
