Hi, picked up my Red Trophy last Friday and love the car. Only issue I've had so far is pre heating the car. It's odd as the lock and unlock function works fine every time but when I try to pre heat the car, I get the attached error with the number 47. The indicators flash when I watch the car to indicate the car has received the pre heat command, but then this error and the car doesn't heat up. I've searched the forum for this specific error and number but can't find anything. I know there's an issue with the car pre heating if it's left plugged in and not charging but this is with no cable plugged in.

The only way I can pre heat my car is to plug it in and start to charge. Then it works every time! Tried the usual of kill the app, log out the app and car, etc and even tried it on my work iPhone but still exactly the same.

Anyone else come across this error and behaviour?

I got this a couple of times this morning then it worked. Looks like the servers were overwhelmed again.

Did you have the (47) at the end of the message? I tried over the weekend and during the day yesterday when the demand to the server is low and it's still the same. On Saturday, at around midday, I tried it unplugged and it failed but the unlock/lock function worked fine. Plugged the charger in and started a charge and the pre heat worked fine. It only ever works for me when plugged in charging.

Yes. I think I also unlocked and locked the car with the key fob before it started working. I'll see if it does the same tomorrow.
Yep, tried that. Made no difference. Same on Saturday. The car is getting the request as it flashes the indicators but then fails to pre heat unless plugged in and charging. Annoying at home as I can work around it but I can't pre heat at all away from home at work!

Just tried this on red Trophy delivered Friday, and working as it should.

If it helps I'm on the latest version of the Android app.

What if you scan the vehicle first (after opening the app)?
Makes no difference and have tried it. It’s very odd as it gets the command to pre heat and flashes the indicators but then gives up?

I find the app is flaky and can lose connection for hours at a time
The connection is there though as the car unlocks and locks and flashes the indicators when the pre condition command is received by the car.

Does your car have all the latest software updates? That could be why you are having problems.

For the app to work, the car needs to be awake, have a good signal on its network and the MG servers need to up and running. Generally once the app is working and responding to you, everything should work - so if it locks and unlocks, you should be able to set the AC.

The only exceptions I am aware of is the not-while-plugged-in bug and an occasional flakiness where mine resets to metric measurements and needs a reconfigure.

I'm told the car has the latest updates including the infotainment R33. The car is wake as the lock unlock works every time via the app and it receives the command for the pre heat as the indicates flash but then fails. The sim card has full signal. This is with the car unplugged as shown in the video. Car is now booked in for the start of May for it to be looked at.

There is one other thing to try and that is to make sure your iSmart app is up to date by checking it through the playstore not in the app itself.

Yeh, it is. Only downloaded it Friday when I picked the car up. Car is now booked in for the start of May for MG to investigate.

My Trophy has this exact same issue. Did you manage to get a fix for yours?
Mine used to work well, but I haven't used it for a while and when trying a couple of days ago, came across this issue. Only thing I can think of that has changed between now and when it did last work was the safety recall fix being applied. It does seem software related (on the car) to me and not app connection issues.

They fixed it with some software updates and now it pre heats without having to pre heat the battery. Going back in again on Tuesday for the heating to be looked at again.

Hi cbowen,
Is the problem fixed now?
My Trophy is now on softwareversion R46 but still getting error (47)
Preconditioning only works when the car is plugged in.
