MG4 Trophy LR
There have been some threads describing unintended acceleration, for example Sudden Acceleration, some with consequences and damage and therefore further diagnostic testing and some just noticed as unusual. Having experienced this yesterday and significant damage to my MG4 Trophy LR and another stationary vehicle (fortunately no-one was hurt), I am keen to find out a. More details on what was identified on diagnostic testing and are there cases when nothing is found b. What has happened subsequently in both these scenarios and c. What are the reporting mechanisms d. Have MG acknowledged this and is there any current ongoing investigation looking into the mechanistics of this potential error.
In the cases where minor incidences have been noted, were they one-offs or did they recur? Were these rectified by a service, or, for example, software updates? The MG4 has been taken into storage and at present, I'm not clear what testing will be done there or what will be done by MG. Surely I need diagnostics to be carried out by a third/neutral party? Can anyone who has been through this share their experience.
Thanks

The most likely explanation is the simplest, you pressed the wrong pedal while manoeuvring/parking.
Yes, this is far more common than people think. You can be convinced you pressed the right pedal but actually hit the wrong one by mistake. But it is very hard to persuade someone this is what they have done: typically they are certain they haven't because everything "felt" normal.

When in D and releasing the footbrake the car will creep forwards, if facing downhill , a bit faster than you would expect. Its easily controlled with the footbrake but you need to be aware of it , then you can use it to your advantage by not needing the accelerator when slow manoeuvring. The amount of creep can be slightly variable for differing reasons , temperature , tyre pressures, weight in car, as well as gradient.

This is exactly the same as every car I've ever driven. Creep is always there. As you say it's just a case of what I call "riding the brakes" to control movement to your liking.

Ok, so I don’t know if this is relevant but figured I’d pop it in here.
2023 standard range. Lowest end model.
After charging, I’ve found that although I never change the driver mode and always in Normal.
When I lift off the accelerator the car doesn’t slow down as quick as it normally does and feels almost as if it’s not slowing down at all and makes me have to react quickly and press on the break.
This happens every time after charging so I’m aware know how the car is going to behave so I know to adjust my own driving behaviors.
I’m unsure if this is how the car is supposed to behave or it’s a setting I’ve overlooked.

This probably isn’t helpful but something I’ve found could very easily cause an accident.

Regen is off because of the high charge level of the battery.

I have a Zappi at home and frequently have had odd things going on after charging, ie idiot lights flashing up like "rear collision" not working ect. So now if I see anything of the like I perform the the Home button reset.

Oh and the latest oddity is twice now when arriving Home and about to reverse into the garage, the car refused to move, so I tried to move forward, but that didn't happen either. Then I noticed the manual park brake was on, but normally that would auto release, took it off and all was ok. It just reminded me that these fab cars are super computers on wheels really!

More computer than super (software at least)

Did you get out of the car to open the garage door? Because the car drops out of Ready when you open the door.

Is your driveway on a slope by any chance? I've found that the car will keep the parking brake on in both Drive and Reverse if you're doing a hill start, but will auto-release it once you tap the accelerator.

Yes my Wife got out to open the garage but it did stay in "ready", the drive is not on a slope, but I still don't understand why the park brake did not auto release, the motor tried to get in motion but the brakes failed to let go.My Wife has a Fiat 500ev and her parking will auto release forward but not in reverse, they have their strande quirks I guess!
