Unpredictable radio status

I prefer FM because there are few stations available in DAB band.
Sometimes when I will turn on the car, the radio will start playing at the (FM) station where I left it last time, some times it will be paused at that.
Many times however it will revert to DAB, which seems to be a default, maybe?
I have not noticed any pattern, if there is one, to this behaviour.
It's frustrating particularly when I try to start radio playing and selection from the steering wheel menus: if it's DAB mode, this is a dead end and I have to revert to using the infotainment screen. In fact pressing the joystick of the steering wheel to get the radio to change to FM somehow, seems to confuse the radio choices from the infotainment which becomes slow to unresponsive for seconds afterwards.

I have same issue with FM-DAB revertion.
Firmware R40.
Any chance to fix it with update with dealer?

The inability to change favorite radio stations through the steering wheel is one of my major disappointments. They put them away from the driver on the far side of the screen making it even worse.

It works once you start receiving an fm station from the infotainment then you can continue with the buttons on steering wheel

The star buttons on the steering wheel have so much untapped potential. Surely it can't be that prohibitively expensive or hard to program some more functionality into those things.

This radio player is a mess. Doesn't keep favourites, stores some then looses some..
Default is DAB...
May be worth the update.
Maybe possible just the radio app?

I've done the update to R59 but unfortunately problems persist
