Hi all,
I was emailing ev.energy over the last couple of days to try and get smart charging working properly with my Rolec charger.
As many may know, there is an issue at the moment where Rolec chargers don't work properly if you want delayed/smart charging. So at the moment there is a workaround to trickle charge the car at 1kWh as soon as it's plugged in.
Originally this was (partly?) due to an issue with the car, but MG have since updated the car for this (see Mike's video for more details).
Anyway, a localish MG dealer thinks I have this update installed, so I contacted ev.energy to remove the trickle charge, which they did that same day.
And with an overnight test last night I can confirm that it didn't work, and the car didn't charge at all.
Going back to ev.energy today, they came back with this:
So overall it sounds promising. Hopefully soon we'll all be able to actually use our Rolec chargers as intended!
Hopefully this is useful information for someone

I went back with the obvious question; here's the reply:There is a bug in our system which is causing charging to start right away. This will cause your car will charge at the beginning of the session and then stop, with the intention of charging later in the evening to coincide with your off-peak period. However, your MG will fall asleep within 10 minutes of the first section of charging finishing, preventing your car from charging during your off-peak period as normal.
Until we've fixed this bug, I would suggest that I re-enable trickle charging for the time being. Once the bug is fixed we can go back to having trickle charging disabled.
It should be in the next couple of days. We will update you once it's live.
So overall it sounds promising. Hopefully soon we'll all be able to actually use our Rolec chargers as intended!
