USB phone charging

My android phone (Samsung M31) charges fine from the passenger side USB C- A lead but will not charge from the driver side USB C- C lead. Any thoughts?

The USB-C port supplies very little power, probably not enough to charge a phone, certainly not mine.

Just put a multiport USB charger in the 12 V socket and get decent charge rates for two phones.
