I took my Trophy Estate for its first service four days ago with 5521 miles on the odometer. Everything was fine apart from amber warnings for the front tyres which are "beginning to wear on inner edges.". "Outer 5.00mm. Middle 5.0mm. Inner 5.00."

The level of wear strikes me as unusual if not unacceptable when tyres often last tens of thousands of miles.

I wonder if others have had the same issue?

One possibility relates to the car being c. 18 months old and spending its first six months as a demonstration model. Given the fierce acceleration, it would be very easy to burn rubber had employees driving it decided to do so.

The current tyres are Maxxi. I was given the option of replacing them with two Toyo tyres for £137.15. Given my low monthly milage I am not planning to replace just yet.

Any advice on how many more miles I might do before replacing?

I bought my MG5 at 18 months old with 20k miles on the clock. The dealer had fitted new front tyres. Cleevely EV get 40k miles, per set, from their fleet of MG5 service vehicles. I suspect, with you mileage, you'll more likely have to change the tyres because of age-cracking rather than tread wear.

If you have 5mm across the tyre then that is pretty even wear. I wouldn't change them until under 3mm.

Your tyre wear looks pretty normal to me.
I am not sure if you were replying to me or to 5teep who changes tyres at 30,000 miles.

In case it was me, the front tyres current tread depth being 5mm suggests that the depth when new was 6mm.

"Tyres with 6mm of tread should last between 20,000-30,000 miles. Possibly more." from blackcircles.com.

Maybe help to somebody. Just had 2 year service 26000 miles ,cost £208, SOH 90%.
Amazingly front tyres 5mm , rear tyres 6mm, original Michelin Primacy Chinese tyres,
so still along way before replacement.
Had the car from new ,no problems never been back to dealers, cannot fault it ,great car .

Hi, do you rapid charge a lot as your SOH seems to have dropped quite a bit?

Don't forget that the minimum legal depth is 1.6mm.

Had the same on our car, newish front tyres at 6mm, rear 5mm yellow/amber warning.

Way to scare some people into paying for 'repairs ' that they don't need.

The fronts were changed at 1.8mm

I know the legal limit is 1.6mm, but I don't go lower than 3, as grip is reduced.

I'm very careful about tyres as they are the car's only contact with the road. I always have matching tyres too.

I’m still on the original Bridgestone tyres, after 3 years and only 8000 miles the fronts are close to 3mm, backs were still over 6mm so I had them rotated. No cracking yet so hoping to get through to February when I can exit the PCP deal without having to pay for new tyres

When I bought my 2021 LR in July it had 10.5k on the clock but the front tyres were shot. The dealer fitted new Maxus tyres before I collected it so I'll be keeping a close watch on them.
These cars spin the wheels for fun so it's not surprising they can wear quickly but the driver is probably the cause more than the car.
FWIW I would count 5mm as "like new"

I am still on the original Bridgestone tyres on my pre-FL MG5 LR (2022). I have 22,000miles. I rotated the front tyres to the rears after 17,000miles and I expect to get another 15-20k miles out of the tyres as they are.

The way to think about this is that the front tyres do all of the work because they handle acceleration, steering and braking (through regen). The rear tyres do very little. Front tyres should last ~20kmiles to I would recommend rotating after 10k miles or so. That way you should be able to get a set of 4 tyres to last 30-40k miles, which isn't bad at all.

Edit: as many have said, if you have a heavy right foot, or enjoy cornering enthusiastically, then tyres will not last as long.
