WhatsApp and messages no longer working in Car Play

I can no longer see these messaging apps in Car Play. Does anyone else have the same problem and hopefully a solution? Thanks.

It sounds more like a setting has been changed on your phone rather than the car, Everything carplay shows is controlled via your phone rather than the car, If you go onto your phone settings, then to general and then carplay, you can select the car and change the layout plus add and reove apps from showing

Thanks. Have tried resetting Car Play on the iPhone and restarting the phone, and customising whilst sitting in the car. Still not working. Like you, I suspect it is an Apple or WhatsApp thing rather than MG.

Not sure why it would be doing this, I know that the cars have the carplay function, but once your phone is connected it is all run through the phone rather than the car, the car is just enabled to allow carplay to work

I have sussed it. iOS 18 introduces an option to require Face ID to open individual apps after the phone has already been unlocked. This is a good security measure - I have locked down my phone which would make it harder for a thief to access any banking verification codes sent by email or SMS if they had stolen my phone and tried to access my bank account. Perhaps being over-zealous I locked down WhatsApp as well.

The trouble is CarPlay does not like locked apps and so phone, SMS and WhatsApp are inaccessible if you have set your phone to require Face ID to open any of these apps.

The solution is to not select the option "Require Face ID"

I'm not fussed about anyone accessing WhatsApp messages but prefer to keep the phone and SMS locked down. It'll be a pain to toggle these each time I use the car.
