Why do the setting not stay set GRR!!!

Still love the car but the setting is driving us mad.

Speed camera notification is great, but we are surrounded by them up here so on some roads it's almost a continuous BONG BONG BONG BONG, now I appreciate the warnings, but it's just too much, too many bongs per camera for a start maybe two or three, maybe a different tone/sound would help.

The ACC is great, or so I thought until it nearly put the boss through the screen because a car coming the other way indicated to turn across our path but had stopped, the car thought we were going to crash but we were both well away from the white line, so now I can't use ACC when she's in the car as understandably nervous.

Some settings require you to agree with them, so you do and it's okay until you turn the car off (not that you can) but next trip they're back again, so you waste time setting it all up again.

A fine car ruined by seriously crappy software.

I have Android Auto issues too, new thread on that.

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one!! I put the setting on full regen and when I switch off the engine the bloody thing reverts to medium. It says I can set it to a star on the steering wheel, which I've tried to do, but it doesn't seem to work. I took it to the local MG service centre and the mechanic put his Laptop on the dashboard above the steering wheel and has left a scratch there!!! I am furious. And PLEASE tell me if anyone else has this problem. I was sat in the car, engine off, waiting for my Son, When CRACK like an old fashioned electrical sound, but very loud, frit the absolute life out of me. It's happened a few times now. At first I thought it was the sound of the metal expanding, but I've heard that sound years ago when you switched on an old radio. Also sometimes my sign recognition says 100, what's that about? And then today my I was on a phone call whilst driving and when the call ended, I couldn't end the call no matter what. I had to stop the car, turn it off and finally it ended. In amongst all this is a pretty good car, I just wish they would sort these things out, but it's difficult when, one minute it's happening and the next it's not, and usually it's not when it's at MG!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

You have my sympathy Ann, seriously you do, it is ruining the joy of having our first new car.
As an ex PC shop manager, it really (rude word) me off that as this is largely a software issue, and has hopefully been flagged back to MG that a fix has not been put forward, it connected to the net so it could be done over the air at any time, no need to go to a dealer.

And yes I had the 100 thing the other day, the boss thinks I imagine stuff, but she's not tech friendly so just gets in it and drives it never touches anything.

It's not bad car under the skin but I'd not advise anyone to buy one while it has all these gremlins.

Thank you for your response. I've thought about getting rid of the car right now!!! But Grrrr I'd lose so much money. One thing I do like about the car is the surround the car camera, that's really good, and the car drives really nice too.

For me it's about 80% positive Ann, and the rest is pure (not very nice word) the software and what it COULD achieve is a large part of the car for me, and lets it down, the Chinese seem to forget that SET is part of the words settings, and if you confirm it, it should not revert back to the previous setting, and of course these are quit important settings that we are changing as it alters the way the car drives, if they are not to be allowed to change then there should not be the option.

And why when I'm doing 3x in a 40 limit doe sit cover the 40 limit sign on the dash and tell me to slow down, that's just barking mad, if I go over it flashes and that makes sense.

I do suppose that many drivers are not yet aware of this great forum, and also some drivers just accept it and drive it, I'm not one of those, it's my car and I want to drive it my way and set it up for me.

Can we actually contact anyone with influence at Mg?

I dont know how much research you guys did before you purchased (I did zero) but I too came across the most moaned about features only when I had took delivery of the car myself. (MG4)
Different car, same software, same company.

Luckily, two software updates later, the car (by and large) does as expected.

Makes you wonder how publications like What Car can get away with giving out theses 'awards' whilst only having the car for such a short time.

These awards are what get a large percentage of folk into the car, trusting the headline "Car of the Year" title.

Well if it's car of the year it must be very, very good.
Right?

Oh and here's what happened last night.......

Just earning their wages, truth has never been a part of motor journalism, they can't use the folk who advertise with them, even if they don't, they might do next year, a bit like politicians, if their lips move, they're lying, if they don't, they're lying through their teeth.
