Hello there noob here with a 71 plate Ev I'm due to take a trip from Manchester to Prestatyn and back it states 88 miles on Google maps I will be going on the motorway. Will I easily make it as I'll have my family in the car
Thanks in advance

Gen 1 or Gen 2 ZS ?

Gen 1, no, it will not do the round journey there and back, you will need a top up while there or en-route. Gen 2 yes you should make it there and back with normal, not excessive driving.

This assumes you are starting with 100% charge.

Download A Better Route Planner, put your car details in, along with weather, number of passengers, and it will give you a fairly accurate estimate of range, need for charging stops etc.

Install Zap-Map on your phone. It's a must-have when out and about in an EV. It shows no public chargers in Prestatyn. The nearest one is at Morrison's in Ryhll, and plenty on route.

One tip, if you haven't used a public charger yet I would go and find one nearby and have a practice before you set off.

If you're on the A55 from Manchester there's a charge point at Euro Garages Singing Kettle, Holywell CH8 8RF, just before Prestatyn too.

You'll be fine. If you see your range dropping just switch off the air con/heating and drive in Eco, That'll give you an instant 10% more mileage.

I've had a quick look on A Better Route Planner for you, and using the M56 it suggests a 37 minute charge on the way back at Road Chef in Chester. Enjoy your adventure.

I live fairly close to the A55 express way and I can think of about three rapid charger locations on route to Prestatyn.
I have a Gen1 ZSEV myself and have done the Trafford centre and back on a single charge more than a few times.
Manchester to Prestatyn and back in these weather conditions, no chance !.
There is two rapid chargers in the car park of the Talardy hotel, which is a Marstons pub.
You could top up there while having a bit of lunch - perfect !.

If it's a Marston's pub it will be a contacless Osprey charger. Brilliant chargers and great places to hang out in whilst charging. They're my preferred chargers. ;)

Bit of an update @Krazeypopz .
We have popped down the A55 to LLandudno and I made a note of the junction numbers for accessing two rapids on route.
You need to leave the A55 at junction 31 to use the rapid at the Singing Kettle location that @Dave S has suggested.
You take the exit and then cross over the A55 you have just left.
You will clearly see a fuel filling station and a Mc Donald’s.
The rapid was a Electric Highway, but it could have been changed / replaced now ?.
Them if it’s out of order or congested, get back on the A55 and leave at junction 27.
I think it is sign posted for Rhyl.
When you get to the bottom of the slip road, go around the round about and you will drive under the A55 you have just left.
Take the third exit ( A525 I think ) and the Talardy hotel is right on the corner of that third exit.
You will pass the actual hotel and the stone wall of the Marstons pub, is on you left hand side.
Indicate left just after take the exit and you will see the entrance to the car park.
As you enter the car park, the two rapids are immediately on you left, behind the stone wall.
The pub is at the top of the car park, about a 2 minute walk.
You could take lunch or do a “Splash and Dash” charge and continue on you way.
If you leave the car park and continue along that short section of dual carriageway, you will reach a roundabout sign posted for Rhyl or Prestatyn ( second exit if my memory serves me correctly ).
Then along anther short section of dual carriageway until you reach another round about, take the exit for Prestatyn ( second exit I think ).
Prestatyn is only about 10 minutes away from the charger, which is ideal !.
I would top up on your way down and your all sorted !.
No harm in throwing in your Granny cable if you are visiting friends maybe ?????.
Always have a second option with an EV !.

Awesome thanks for the replies everyone ?
Enjoy your trip !.
Just remembered there is another rapid located in a pub car park called the “Running Hare” next to the St Davids Hotel in Ewloe.
Again leave the A55 and it’s less than 5 minutes away, you will find it on ABRP.
But you are unlikely to need any juice that early in your trip I don’t think.
They are in the process of installing some hyper fast chargers in the Shell garage on the A55 express way in Ewloe.
It will be on the opposite side of the carriage way.
