A quick question about the MG3's windscreen wipers:

Is it a 19 mm top lock system? Another fastening system? J Hook? Bayonet ? Pinch tab ?

What are the dimensions? ---> I have found : 55 & 48 cm

Thank you for your answers.

Hi Italy, from measuring them, they are: Drivers side: 55cm
Passenger side 48cm

On the MG4, the (owner) recommended replacements are Bosch Aerotwin A721S wiper blades. I'd imagine the MG3+ uses the same locking/fixing mechanism as the MG4.

Most replacement wiper blades come with universal locking pieces anyway, so can adapt to all the common locking/fixing mechanisms.

Not off hand but I always get my wiper blades off a local motor factor, who fits them for free and they work out the same as any online price, that I've seen.

Hi. I went to Halfords with the intention of swapping my new MG3 Hybids front screen wipers for some Bosch Aero's. However when the Halfords' technician looked at the wiper end fitting he said nothing they have Bosch or Halfords own will fit. The vehicle owners guide shows a press tab on top of the wiper, however this tab is on the SIDE of the MGs wiper. Apparently somewhat similar to a Mercedes fit I was told so Halfords could not help. As the car is so new it's back to the dealer to supply.

The same thing happened me a few years back when my wife bought one of the first new style 3008s. The car was still too new for Halfords after a year. I stopped using Halfords, as they carry limited stock lines, are overpriced and the service is not great. My local independent motor factor is cheaper and can usually source what I want.
Out of interest, why do you want to change the blades, are you having issues with them?

No, I'm just looking ahead (to a year from now) and curious! ?

Very interesting post!

It seems to me that this fixing system is somewhat rare, even unheard of.
I'd be interested to know what MG4 owners have to say about it, as apparently they're the same (apart from the length).

Hi Declan.
The wiper on the driver's side kept juddering. No amount of cleaning glass or wiping the rubber made any difference. As Halfords couldn't supply a replacement for the MG3+ I went to the dealer as the car was only three weeks old. They replaced both wipers under warranty and the problem was resolved.

I looked everywhere to see where I could get a set of wipers and couldn't identify just how they were mounted. It was also noted the wipers shown in the manual were nothing like the blades fitted to the car !
I was eventually put onto the Chinese Ali-Express. Seems they know which wipers are required for our MG3 HEVs. The set of three blades cost £11.99 (free post). They arrived today in just 9 days and the fittings look just right.

Been there done that over the years, anyway was interested in finding any supplier of the correct blades. At that price for all three who cares.

Thank you for this information.

Can you give us the link to the Aliexpress article.

According to some reviews, the passenger wiper is shorter than the original. Can you confirm or deny this?

Thank you very much for your reply.
