My drivers seat has started a very unsettling wobble (front to back not side to side) , as if a screw holding it to the rails has come loose.

Anyone got any ideas or seen similar before I get investigating on the weekend?

Not come across this before but it should be simple enough to access the mounting bolts.

Interesting development. Looked under seat, seemed easy enough, just a bolt that's worked loose

But, turns out on inspection that the bolt thread was either cross threader or had failed in situ so the bolt can't actually be done up!

A call to the dealers on Monday to try and identify a spare part as my shed doesn't have bolts that size unfortunately

If anyone has part numbers or a way to identify the bolt that would be great!

update - finally got it into the garage after waiting for the appointment only to be told that the pivot bolt not available as a part.

MG currently reviewing if they need to replace the whole seat!

will update when i know the plan.

the only root cause anyone can think of is either
a) it was cross threaded at build
b) the fact i move the chair often (bad back) and somehow that movement on the pivot stripped it

This is what I hate about car dealerships and the modern world in general. Anyone with minimal metalworking skills could put that seat on the bench, drill out the problem bolt, prep the area, then install a suitable alternative bolt and locking nut, for a perfect repair. I could certainly do it easily. Dealership staff can do nothing but bolt in a whole new seat at ludicrous cost after having to ask MG what to do like small children!

indeed and thats exactly what i will be doing if MG refuse the warranty repair. i am not paying for a whole chair.

Just wondering if this was covered under warranty. I have a similar problem that has just happened with my MG4 drivers seat, I need to investigate further this morning but it seems something has broken/slipped and the seat is now tilted at a slight angle.

they did cover mine under warranty luckly enough and yes they did replace the whole seat mounting.

i thought they were going to change the whole seat, but seems the metalwork comes off the seat itself and they changed all that - took about 3 hours though

MG have also just agreed to replace my seat mounting under warranty after the bracket under the seat snapped in half. They can’t commit to how long it will take though as it depends on where the replacement has to come from. Did they have the part in stock in the UK for your repair or did you have to wait for it to come from China?

For mine the only wait was to get booked in (about two weeks) so I assume parts were easy to get hold of.
