I raised this with someone at my dealers who is also on this forum. He got a message back stating that they need to create a VDS report and raise it with China for fix.
Hi Geezer, Welcome!MG HS Plug-in Hybrid Software Update Wishlist Poll
More and more (future) owners are finding this medium to gather and give information about the pro's and con's of this very nice vehicle.
Several improvements to this product are, in my view, necessary and possible due to the software options available.
I will make a list of possible and enhancing updates for (possible) owners to vote for. (not in order of priority!) In due time we might have enough votes to present a serious request for MG to consider.
Most of these subjects have been covered in the different posts on this HS Phev Forum, so if not clear, please refer to those threads.
This is my first (and last) poll on this site, so if it does not work well I will try to improve it or even cancel or limit the respons time.
If positive I will continue it until the end of this year as more owners will join the poll hopefully.
Reactions are welcome, if needed corrections made and additional wishlist items added.
Greetings from Holland
Henri
You lift your foot momentarily and then give it a push.Mine's the same - hesitates at 49mph when accelerating in EV mode. I always deselect EV and let the ICE help when overtaking.![]()
Hi - I just registered to follow up on this thread. I took delivery almost 12 months ago, in Thailand. I have the same problem, so does a friend of mine who got his PHEV around June this year. Because of this slow shift, the claimed 0-100 km/h time is way overstated by MG.
Has there been any news for an upcoming fix?
Thanks for sharing the observation on the 'update' - I would be thrilled if some work was done to solve this problem. Please report further findings after you had some time to do more testing.Hi @EVGeezer I took my MG HS PHEV to MG Surin (Thailand) to fix the "off-roading" problem yesterday, not only did they fix that problem for free but washed the car inside and out and did an update. I was keen to see if the update fixed the gear shifting in EV mode problem. Test involved traffic light racing start to 100kph. There is now only a slight hesitancy at around 70kph but nothing like the "hitting the wall" experience I was having before. Need to perform the test a few more times to be sure.
By the way I have a couple of videos about my PHEV on my channel: YouTube.com/EcoHouseThailand
I mostly - close to always only see this issue if gearbox is cold. If you could include this in your test please.Hi @EVGeezer I took my MG HS PHEV to MG Surin (Thailand) to fix the "off-roading" problem yesterday, not only did they fix that problem for free but washed the car inside and out and did an update. Yup mine does that too, bit of a glaring issue tbh. I consciously only switch to EV in town and villages, the EV bit isn't great for dual carriageways. I've had the software updated but made no difference. My first impression with driving my brand new MG plug-in Hybrid in 100% EV mode:
The electric drive has a 4 gear transmission systeem which often shifts in a very slow way. The car halts for a moment like someone who cannot find the next gear!
In the hybrid mode with 6 extra gears available here is no problem at all, but in EV I find it troublesome, especially when overtaking traffic on dual roads. At a speed of around 80km/hr while accelerating, a total power cut occurs for about a full second causing decelleration! Anyone who can confirm this?
My hope is improvement in the near future for all owners in that case.
The was on page 4, now on top again…Hi I bought mine in September brand new and I have this issue. How do I vote
Mine does this - it's a PIA and is dangerous if you don't know it's going to happen. If I'm out of town I never use only EV because of this issue. It's been serviced and updated a few times, but never fixed this. Happens around 45 MPH and it's almost like the power has been completely cut for about 2-3 secondsMy first impression with driving my brand new MG plug-in Hybrid in 100% EV mode:

I have noticed the same thing with the available power, strange behavior. I just talked to my dealer again. I have now an appointment in a couple of weeks to leave the car at the dealership for troubleshooting . I hope they find a solution to the issue.I'll throw my hat in the ring here, same issue, sadly. I have noticed there is a 'guide line(?)' in the rev counter that up to around 40mph sits at 80%. I've noticed that at the point of the lag, this line slightly drops and then moves up to 100%. I am assuming that is showing a available power?
When driving in EV and getting close to that point, a slight lift off of the pedal while the indicator on the power moves to 100% and then I know I can go again. It's not ideal but it does remove the hitting the wall, feeling.
I will report it to my dealer and, you never know, if enough of us report it, something may happen!
