Hi all,
my valve stem snapped when I was checking tyre pressure. This seems to be a pain to replace as quite a few garages don't supply the part, some don't even do MGs at all. looks like I've got to take it to the dealers and these are few and far between.

Wow, did it break easily?
Luckily I wait for the sensor to tell me if they need air?
Yes, it did. I just thought I’d check the pressure having done 1500 miles. As it happens, they were all over-inflated (about 2.6 bar, when they should be 2.2). The pump got stuck and I wiggled it like you normally do and the stem snapped. As they’re made from alloy they don’t have any flex.

Did they show as 2.6bar in the car or 2.2?

Ambient temperature can decrease / increase the reported tyre pressures on the TPMS.
The reporting system ( if accurate ) should not necessitate the manual checking of tyre pressures.
A complete replacement valve and TPMS sensor can be bought on line for about £36.
Not sure if will need to be coded to the car though ?.
The ones already installed at the factory, have a self learning facility, just in case the 12 volt battery has to be disconnected.

Okay, thanks.

2.2 bar is the recommended pressure. I’ve seen another post that said the tyres where overinflated why the car was delivered.
Did the TPMS register as high or was it under reading compared to you checking manually.

Ive checked mine and they match the TPMS readings, I was wondering how reliable the TPMS readings actually were.

Hi, you've still not clarified what the TPMS on the car dash display showed was it 2.2 or 2.6 ?....you are aware that tyre pressures show on the dash I presume.

I have to wonder why you didn't just look at the info display on the dashboard. You're perfectly entitled to do it your way of course and it's bad that the stem broke but it wasn't necessary.

Yes, wasn’t sure how to get the tyre pressures up on there

I didn’t check that, just used the air pump at the garage
