Any chance the sound of a seat belt alarm can be disabled? I've noticed the alarm can only be stopped when a passenger fastens a seat belt.

It's a legal requirement for rear passengers to fasten their seat belts
Are you saying that it sounds when there are no passengers at the back?

I wonder if putting something on the back seat (e.g. laptop bag) might fool the car into thinking there's a passenger there?

That's something I'll need to watch out for wrt my dogs - they both get clipped via bungee straps from their harnesses into the seat belt holders, but they tend to wander about on the rear seat so may end up sitting in the spot which doesn't have the seat belt fastened to it.

Is it just the two outer seats that would trigger the alarm?

There are passengers. Are you saying it is a driver's responsibility to make sure passengers do fasten their seat belts at all times?
