I hope so considering they had the car for a month prior to handover!Hopefully either overfilled or not tightened properly ?....assuming they did actually fit the modified breather?
No call or email last night (working hours) sadly so I emailed this morning..... not the greatest customer experience which is a shame as a simple call/email gos a long way. Surely these parts can be a stock item seeing as its becoming a common issue? So I was expecting the part to be fitted today in Beaconsfield, Ready for a collection tomorrow..... I had to contact the deal to ask how its going......
"We have not received the part yet but hopefully it should be with us by the end of the day today..."
Lets see if i get an update close of play today ?i should point out that ive not even had the car yet![]()
So sorry to hear you are having all of these issues. There have been cases of incorrectly fitted breathers leaking, if this is not the case please do report back here as I think it would be the first case of the breather not solving the problem. We collected our Trophy model just over 2 weeks ago now after new breather was fitted due to signs of oil leak after PDI. This is our drive with clear signs of oil still leaking. The cars due to go back in Friday but I'm loosing faith in the car now,
This could be a bug but more likely a fault in the onboard charger which isn’t used for DC charging.especially as it won't charge on ANY AC source including our home Zappi (just had that replaced to rule that out..excellent customer service from MyEnergi..)
The only way the car is drivable is we can get it to DC charge only, so queuing down at our local Lidl twice a week..!
That’s a weird one. Maybe a strange new bug?Seriously considering rejection now as also found the rear window drivers side had fully dropped open in the snow on Saturday after parking up to go shopping. Rear seats and carpets were soaked.
so I called just now to chase up on my morning email (9:55am)...... after a lot of apologising (and BS) I was told the part is expected in Thursday now. So will collect the car in Jan as I am away for Christmas, which is not MG's fault but I should have collected last Wednesday. I think one more set back and I'll have to seriously think about rejecting MG before its too late.No call or email last night (working hours) sadly so I emailed this morning..... not the greatest customer experience which is a shame as a simple call/email gos a long way. Surely these parts can be a stock item seeing as its becoming a common issue?
could the window have stuck shut and someone tried to open it......then when window thawed the windows opened? not ideal thats for sureThanks @tsedge . Yes I'll update if I find out, but not even sure I want to drive 90 miles to drop off for repair and (despite the loan of a courtesy car) the same again to collect, whenever that might be. Things are getting a bit close to the holidays and our 30 day limit for rejection is actually Christmas day..!
The window is very strange. It definitely wasn't left open (not in this weather..) and was the only one that had 'dropped'. Cold weather or water ingress affecting electrics in the door somehow...? All I do know is I've never had it happen to any other cars, including the 2 ZS EVs we've had, but security-wise it's unacceptable.
Might be worth seeing if your dealer will download the vehicle logs and send to MG to see if it's a software fault.Seriously considering rejection now as also found the rear window drivers side had fully dropped open in the snow on Saturday after parking up to go shopping. Rear seats and carpets were soaked.
Maybe it is the emergency escape route when the car locks you in? ?could the window have stuck shut and someone tried to open it......then when window thawed the windows opened? not ideal thats for sure
It is a bit of a bodge fix. The real problem is the position of the breather directly in the oil throw from the main crown gear. The eventual permanent fix will be a redesign which will either move the breather or baffle it inside to stop the oil going up the breather. That's 2 cars fitted with the new breather that have still got the leak, I hope it's human error rather than another issue. Fingers crossed folks
Interesting theory but I don't think so. I had put all windows down then up earlier after de-frosting and scraping windscreen so they shouldn't have been frozen shut. There's no sign of foul play and it was on the road side not pavement so unlikely tampered with.could the window have stuck shut and someone tried to open it......then when window thawed the windows opened? not ideal thats for sure
its a shame but completely understandable..... I losing faith by the day with MG and reports like this are only adding to me thinking about doing the same.....and I dont even have the carInteresting theory but I don't think so. Whatever the cause it's worrying and a security issue, and in our case the straw that's broken the camel's back.
I've sent the dealer a rejection email this morning. There's too much going wrong with these early MG4s, particularly this lemon, and I for one am not investing £32k+ in a car that's currently not fit for purpose.
I was 100% feeling the same and this eventually led me to cancelling my order, the locking in was the final straw.its a shame but completely understandable.....
