Hello if I may can I pose a couple of questions.
1st when the car is shut down or shut down and charging , are there any live high voltage unprotected cable connections underneath which might be touchable should any animals (cats rats etc) find their way up through any spaces not protected by the undertray. You may not have cats but your neighbours might and as well as it being a bad day for the animal it might be worse for your wallet , a field day for both parties insurance assessors.

2nd The 7 year battery warranty is well advertised but does anyone have information as to the sliding scale of warranty on other parts fittings and accessories, or where this info is published. Cheers

There is an undertray covering the encased battery which has waterproof connectors.

There is around 410v at several hundred amps available and i cant imagine that a manufacturer treated that trivially as for example it woukd be lethal when driven on a wet road

So far, there has been a complete absence of dead animals on my driveway and I assume all is safe and well. If there should be any fatalities, they will be ready marinaded in oil but I hear the aftertaste is on the bitter side.

I suppose a really determine animal - like a rodent could chew through HV cabling - and get fried! Otherwise I don’t think there is anything to worry about as far as cats are concerned.

They do miss the exhaust heat under the car though.

Merci, Alb for the warranty info, much appreciated.
As for the animal situation, a nice warm battery is a good substitute, and whilst in principle I agree with Stevegus there is always a flaw or two in any design no matter how well intentioned.
For the gearbox ( olive oil perhaps ).

The elect sys will probably be designed to an 'IP' rating; likely 56; i.e. neither large dust not direct water spray under pressure will penetrate the connections.
Regardless, cats have survived 100 mile journeys in the engine compartment of ice mobiles, so a bit of 'electric toaster' effect shouldn't freak them overly.

Thanks, that's less than I'd expect, my last car was a Kia which had a 3yr warranty on the 12v battery from what I remember.

At least they are relatively cheap and easy to replace when they do wear out.

Doesn't show a lot of confidence in factory fitted 12v batteries though....
