MG4 Restricted speed - weird

Right…..
So it now looks like any MG4, regardless of battery, might have an issue with cold and heat….
Splendid stuff.

UPDATE RE REJECTION
MG finance (Santander) called saying the dealer has admitted they are unable to fix the issue, so it “looks like” it’s going to be rejection.
I should cocoa….
I’ve not been asked or told yet, but I’m taking the car back to them on Saturday and dumping it.
BEGONE VILE BEAST!

Mine is still pretty poor.
The car allows me to have full power and usability from 100% battery down to about 60% battery and then it starts to limit the top speed and the acceleration and its gets more restrictive the lower the battery goes.

The only way to get full use out of an MG4 where its not dangerous to drive is to keep the battery fully charged all the time and never let it go blow 50%.

What Michael says. After the poor Autobahn performance with < 40 % SoC, I tried again today with 100 %. The car now accelerated, like it's supposed to, up to 164 km/h (displayed) [102 mp/h] and was just fine. It was 2°C / sunny and I drove just a few miles before I turned into the Autobahn.

My MG-Guy called me today, telling me that there was some control unit update that might improve this behaviour. I'd also get the R16 update (I am on R13), which should improve iSmart App things.

Overall I am happy with my little MG4 today. ;)

Im looking forward to giving mine back at the end of the deal and buying a car that actually works in all condition and all levels of remaining range.

Yup, keep it as close to 100% as possible at all times, or play the top speed lottery.

FWIW I tried mine in Sport mode, with SoC <40% and it gave me 100% power with no signs of wanting to throttle. Admittedly this wasn't an extended test.

You need to floor it for a good few seconds at a time, not just a burst.
Floor it and see where it takes you.
Be brave!

Define "a good few seconds" ... I floored it for about 10 seconds.

Ok so in that time you should be well on your way to top speed.
Ultimately, it should do 100mph and that’s the real test.
But I assume your 10 seconds got you well past 80mph and if you’re happy with that then that’s cool.

Only 3 years and 9 months of pain to go until we can hand them back

Im going to illegally video myself driving mine the next time it decides to withhold power so people can see just how appalling the acceleration goes from 40% battery and how dangerous this is.
I also want proof for the MG dealer seeing as they CLAIM never to be able to repeat the same problem when they drive it

Videos have helped my position immensely.
You can hear me stamping on the throttle to accentuate the fact that’s what I’m actually doing etc

Just get videoing and start rejection.
Good luck ?

Im currently on 56% battery with a range of 77 miles which equates to 137 miles in total, which is almost 100 miles short of the bullshit claimed range. so if i use the heater i should be close to 40% after my 9 mile journey so i will have limited power and speed on the way to work tomorrow
I cant wait to pull out on to the bypass and then take about 40 seconds to reach 60mph.

This looks like a smart little alternative, pity it's not available yet.

It’s definitely a battery issue, despite MG saying it was a motor issue and replacing mine anyway.
I’m also barely getting 1 mile per % of battery.
It’s all linked.

Absolutely does, an electric polo is our eldest daughters dream car.
Too far away though, I need ‘something’ now.
