There is not a fully comparable porscheWow I can't believe how badly judged that position in the market is...
I do love my mg5, and I was sold on getting one of these. But 50k+ is madness.
No one is ever going to compare an mg to a porche, let alone of they do compare the two and find the porche is cheaper and then buy the mg!
Ahh well it was a nice dream while it lasted
Sad in a way, but that makes it much more appealing, I don't want a car everyone has, where I pass several others a day exactly the same!Nice video.
Shame that the production run is so limited and prices are higher than hoped, will put it out of reach of many.
is that a model S on your profile pic because they are quite popular and i see them every daySad in a way, but that makes it much more appealing, I don't want a car everyone has, where I pass several others a day exactly the same!
£50k for effectively a re-bodied MG4 is utter insanity.
Something tells me the Cyberster is going to flop!
Just because there isn't an EV roadster doesn't mean people will flock out to buy a £50K Chinese MG.Well, you can think that. It'll do very well indeed, there are no electric roadsters at all yet and some of us are waiting for just this type of car, I'm having one.
You're right about Tesla's being very common now, but mainly 3/Y, there aren't many S/X around, partly as they've not been available for over 2 years now. It was one of my cars, I recently sold it.
You do realise that many Teslas are built in China and have been imported here, along with iPhones and lots of other "high end" products. Just because it is Chinese doesn't mean it is low end.Just because there isn't an EV roadster doesn't mean people will flock out to buy a £50K Chinese MG.
Yes, likely they would have sold fewer butThe only reason the MG4 sold so well was because of the low price compared to all other EVs', If MG asked for £40K for it, they would not have sold many!
SAIC is rapidly transforming itself into a full-range premium maker - the Cyberster was designed in the UK by a European team. You must have more money than sense if you are willing to pay BMW prices for a rebadged SAIC just because it doesn't have a roof.

Interesting, I've heard the Chinese ones are better than the US, but I guess it all depends when they were made and who you talk to,Yes im aware, we have both US and Chinese model 3's at my workplace and the Chinese ones are not as good and have more creaks and rattles
My MG4 has 4000 miles on it and its developing lots of creaks and its been back to the dealer several times for faults so dont be fooled by marketing rubbish, they are not premium cars, they are not using premium materials and they dont have premium build quality.
Just because a brand says its a premium high quality brand does not justify it raising its prices accordingly. Consumers dictate the price they are willing to pay and i dont believe MG will ever be in the same league as the current premium brands.
That is the biggest challenge for MG. I think that they are starting to produce some interesting cars but the dealer networks and overall attitude to customer service will have to improve significantly in order to attract and retain customers who are paying for a premium end product.Interesting, I've heard the Chinese ones are better than the US, but I guess it all depends when they were made and who you talk to,
No faults or creaks on my MG4 yet, over 2,000 miles in. It seems early cars had quite a number or faults but later cars are much better, MG have been praised for the build quality by quite a few.
Agreed that they are built down to a cost but that is what will be different with the Cyberster as the cost is going to enable a spectacular interior, if they pull it off well.
My doubts are not whether MG can build a sports car that can compete, more whether they can offer the premium sales and service experience that such buyers expect.
It won't be sold in every dealership. I think they're limiting to 20-25 dealers (a bit like Nissan do with the GTR).That is the biggest challenge for MG. I would consider buying one from you Miles. You represent how MG should shape the future. Add me to the list…..It won't be sold in every dealership. I think they're limiting to 20-25 dealers (a bit like Nissan do with the GTR).
Ah, that makes much more sense, then the select few will offer the level of service expected, that's a good idea.It won't be sold in every dealership. I think they're limiting to 20-25 dealers (a bit like Nissan do with the GTR).
MG wouldn't have got 40k for the MG4 because it's a mundane hatchback, this is an entirely different proposition. They don't need the masses to flock to buy it, it's a halo car and they only intend on selling a couple of thousand a year anyway. I get it, you don't like it, and that's just fine.Just because there isn't an EV roadster doesn't mean people will flock out to buy a £50K Chinese MG.

I see about 4 Tesla model S each day so they are more common than a lot of cars
