Just thought I'd share about why we got our MG5. To be honest, we're not into cars massively. Just needed one to get us from A to B when we can't use public transport. We were looking for a car we could afford and that was more environmentally friendly than our old one (that one got rear-ended last year).
Apart from cost, we needed to fit in 3 young adults, 5 people's camping luggage (we thought roof rails would be useful for that and useful for our roof box!) and occasionally we need to carry bikes around. We also wanted a decent range.
We couldn't afford any on the market until we heard about the MG5 EV and its keyworker affinity deal. It ticked all the boxes, well it did before we found out about the roof rails! As we go cycling a bit, we had already bought a roof top bike rack just like the brochure pics in preparation for getting a new car (we have a Saris bike rack too). We're grateful to this forum and Les B as when we picked up the car we didn't know about the roof rails. Thanks for getting things potentially moving on that front Les! I have emailed MG (and our dealer) and got replies similar to the ones that Les and Which published. Will email again if we don't hear about an update soon. Don't want to have to send our MG5 back (unfortunately ZS not big enough or our family) but we might have to. We'll see what happens first. Definitely not going to let MG get away with 'decorative roof rails' comment!
Apart from that, the car gives a lovely smooth ride. Had it since mid-Jan. We've never had a new car so nearly everything inside is exciting! Obviously haven't done any long journeys yet, but will have to do uni pick ups at some point. No problems charging at home (have a Pod point), but not sure I'm entirely looking forward to the charge point journey planning. Will get the better route planner one and zapmap and see how it goes.
Would recommend the MG5 if you're a family of 5, you want a good priced EV with space, and you aren't bothered about the rails!
