Does anyone know what the latest firmware should be on a 22 ZS SR?

Want to see if mine is the latest and if not, if the dealer will do an update while it's in for service.

I guess the car does not do over the air update itself does it?.

Thanks

There is no such thing as "the latest firmware". The car has about 20 modules, and each has its own firmware version. The only one you can check the version yourself is the infotainment panel. In general, MG only provides updates for individual modules if you report a problem and they have a version that might fix it. And no, despite previous announcements, there are no OTA updates, you always need a dealer to do it for you.

The latest software for the MG ZS EV Comfort is R23 and for the Luxury is R25.
But there are clues that MG are working on a big software update, coming up to the middle of the year 2024. In Europe they will start on 01 July 2024. A new law, some assistance systems have to be in NEW cars. So MG have to bring out new software.

As I wrote, that's only the version for the infotainment panel. It has no bearing on things like charging, cruise control or assistance systems.

Also, the new law is only applicable to cars that are being sold after that point. So there is no guarantee that it will come to our cars anytime soon. There is actually a good chance that MG will introduce a Mk3 ZS EV instead.

Anyway, most of the stuff mentioned in the law is already present (at least on the Luxury/Trophy), the only thing I think is missing currently is the "driver attention warning".

Does anyone know where I could get a download of R23?
You can not.

This is the software MG said was "OTA upgradeable" but to my knowledge they never released it as an OTA update.

Only option i know of is to have MG, update it, but that means, it has to go to a workshop and have the MG computer plugged into it.

This is not likely to be free of charge.

Seems to be a bit of a panic on software updates. If your car is working fine I see no need to have the Latest Software.
I think this stems from the mobile phone software updates where people seem to think that having the latest and greatest software updates will impart some magical properties to their phone, when most of the time it just screws things up and then needs another update to fix the previous one.
Then before you know it you need a new phone because all the updates have filled it up and there is no more space for Applications.

So SKA. Is there a problem with your car that you think a software update will fix it?

I think a lot of this stems from people either owning other EV's that gets OTA updates as well or as you say....mobile devices.

I have a Tesla and OTA updates actually bring new features to the car.

Since MG does not seem to do any new features and software updates are mainly / only to fix problems i agree, that if you do not have a problem with the current features, then there is no real need to get it updated.

That being said, if MG had just used the OTA update system, they used as a salespoint, the infotainment could just have the latest version at any time, updated via OTA. (But typical for Chinese products "Can be updated OTA" does not mean "will be updated OTA"....)

I just had our ZS EV delivered and the seller said it had been on the computer all day, updating all of the modules, so i am guessing that since i have the latest software, there will be no sudden need to have something upgraded as all of the "big" problems have been ironed out. (Car bricking at charger....Car not wanting to charge at Tesla charger, etc...)

I also expect MG to more or less abandon the car, software wise, as soon as the successor is introduced and the ZS EV is phased out of production, so probably not a lot of software updates available anyhow.

My car was updated November last year to fix reversing warning tone when the towbar was was fitted. It took 3 days to download the updates at the dealers, they gave me a loan car while it was connected. I have the comfort version so no online connection anyway.

I am interested in fitting a towbar to my zs.

What did you get updated when you had the towbar fitted and why

Reversing warning tone was not switching off and there was no setting for the towbar in the entertainment system. The same dealer had fitted the MG towbar so the update was done free of charge.
