I have a Trophy just over a year old. It has never been through a car wash, or had any sort of bump. Today I noticed what looks like a crack in the plastic on the rear boot light assembly. It is just over an inch long. I am at a loss to understand how it could have happened.

Has anyone else had similar?

From fully open, no. I am not tall enough. The last bit possibly, not sure. The crack is on the left hand side, and I am right handed, so I doubt this is connected.
Thanks for the idea though.

@Coulomb several posts relating to cracks...

Ok, thanks. These don't seem to me (so far) to be candidates for merging, as there are several core topics (condensation, cracks, crazing, etc) so I've just added some links at the front of each thread to the others. It was a lot more work than I thought, so next time may be a merge after all.

After usual hand car wash noticed still wet in places when I walked around car. Found cracks on top part. Happened in May, no reason for this to have happened. Will find out what garage says later this month.

Mine cracked internally, replacement sent from China to the dealer who is installing on the 18th... but noticed that rear quarter lights are starting to do same. Mentioned to dealer.
Meant to say, replaced under warranty.

Not easy to see in your picture, but if you are referring to the long line, the other side will be the same. Mine has it on both sides in exactly the same places and they are the joins between the sections.

Mine has some internal cracking which appeared after a few months. I will get it fixed under warranty when I have the first year's service.

Ye, definitely joints or moulding marks. I nearly had a heart attack when I first noticed this on my two-day old Trophy ER but checked out another MG4 in a car park and realised these lines are meant to be there!

Give my regards to Rutland, used to live in Market Overton and should never have left!

Garage tells me it "wont "get replaced under warranty.

That was the first response I had, but my dealer is small family garage and they tried asking MG, not expecting it to be agreed. After some tests to prove the crack was not on the outside, it was agreed by MG to swap it. I had to video me pulling a finger nail over the crack. I pressed hard enough to scratch the plastic, but it proved the point.

I have got similar cracking on my MG4 Trophy and am waiting for a response from MG. It appeared within 2 months of me buying the car new.
