Had the XPower since last summer and have just noticed this.

Anyone else care to check or report on theirs?

The only difference I see is their angles, and that has to be, because of the the different angle to driver.
Agreed although other cars I've had with folding mirrors the angle adjustment takes place within the shell rather than the shell moving.

Go and check your XPowers. The pictures I've posted may not be the best but I assure you it's real. All mirror adjustment takes place within the black housing, which does not itself move save when you lock the car and choose to fold them in.

It's the gloss black mirror housing that is asymmetrical, whether folded in or out.

Correct - so either I'm discovering for the first time that all cars or at least XPowers are made this way, or it's a design aberration.

You say 'has to be' and my question then is, really? Are all cars made this way?

So you see the issue?

That's the same for all cars, isn't it? Only the actual glass moves, not the whole housing. I'm probably being a bit fik here, but don't follow what you are saying. ??
Read more carefully.

The housing is asymmetrical. The passenger side is angled inwards more the the driver side, regardless of what mirror position you choose.

Maybe the range of adjustment in the housing is insufficient to allow symmetrical mounting. Who knows. Doesn't seem like a big issue to me, though I suppose now you're seen it you won't be able to 'unsee' it.
Mind you, the images weren't taken at the same angle or distance, so it's not that easy to tell...

Yes, I see your issue.

So can you move the mirror without moving the housing?
Maybe there's not enough travel for the mirror so they had to offset the housing to compensate

SNAP!!!

Anyone think I can claim to be the first MG customer to spot this? I'd say it deserves a gold star.

Now wondering whether all MG4s are made this way.

Seems to be the same on all MG4s. Here's an image extracted from the Auto Express review of the MG4 Long Range in Trophy trim:

Yep, I'll second a gold star!
My MG4 51 Excite, has drivers mirror facing slightly in and the passenger mirror facing slightly out.
Other way around, no? On mine the passenger-side mirror housing is angled in towards the car body more than on the driver side.

Or is your driver seat on the left side? In the UK it's on the right side.

When looking from the front I always thought something looked a bit cock eyed but could not put my finger on it . Here's a check to confirm your suspicions. Take a straight edge and looking vertically down put it parallel on the inside foot of the mirror, you will see that top edge of the mirror is cranked either around 8mm out , with the gap being either to the front or rear depending if its the drivers or passengers. This means if you are travelling in a country which drives on the opposite side of the road , and you smash a mirror, the local MG dealer cannot help you. Also be careful if ordering a spare off the internet. Good spot!!!!
