I’m always reluctant to spend a lot of money on a car and get zero discount - just doesn’t sit well with me.
A car with a lot of hype at launch like the Cyberster I guess falls into this category.
I wonder what used Cybersters will be going for in 12 Months time?

Not available in Australia till the last part of the yr and a guestimated AUD$100,000 plus on road, they would want to be something extra special and hold their value like property in one of the major cities.
A model X Plaid with all the frills is AUD$96,000 plus on road .... hmmm... a Tesla model X Plaid tri motor or an MG Cyberster ......

You will always get the ex demonstrators going for negotiable amounts depending what the dealer criteria is for moving on the stock. Also the car is on the dealers books at a value excluding any VAT. Dealer pays £50k for a car they sell it to you for £60k (inc VAT). If 6 months later the dealer values the car at £45k they sell it to you for £54k (inc VAT). Dealer has lost £5k but you get that car at £6k less than original price

Life's too short to wait m8.
If you really want it, have it.

Oh did I tell you?
I was born without the 'patience' gene! ?

How long are you willing to wait? If the market is flooded these figures below look about right. If allocation gets reduced and limited don't expect these numbers. Single motor numbers will apply to AWD in a sudden market crash and no demand. I don't envisage MG buying their Cyberster back the same way Porsche buy their cars back if its been maintained to keep them within the network unless its a trade in?

ex demo with 1000 to 3000 miles will probably be 50k/47 private on AWD and 45 on single motor. probably June to August next year. Discounts depends on the dealer or seller. How desperate they are to move it on. Xpowers are preregistered discounted by 6k...now the hypes died down. New discounted by 2k. You might get discounts if sales slump but the allocation is much smaller than any other MG models. Youre also gambling on people selling within 12 - 24 months. It will mostly be ex demos and trade sales. Especially if people like the car. Flippers neednt bother look at the Emira. Oh yeah higher interest on used cars to recoup the money.

AWD GT vs Single Motor Successful depreciation
1st Year - £50,000 - 10,000 miles - £45,000
2nd Year -£45,000 - 20,000 miles - £38,000
3rd Year - £39,000 - 30,000 miles - £33,000
4th Year - £35,000 - 40,000 miles - £29,000

I believe the dealers are leasing the cars from MG, not sure how this works and if they will have ex demonstrators to sell.

My guess would be to use the first gen Taycan numbers, until just before the new generation was announced. Unlucky me I do not have them, maybe someone else does.

47% within 36 to 48 months on Taycans. i was shocked to see Taycan Turbo S 2020 in the 60,000 range. That was roughly 140,000 new

Correct, the initial dealer demonstrators are on a 12 month lease from MG, so that they can't be sold early.

Are you sure they will sell them in the UK, may just take them back so there are no cheep ones on the market.
I think you might be over thinking things. I very much doubt they'll do anything other than sell them on at the going market rate. We're not talking about Lamborghinis here, I've never observed any mainstream car manufacturer who could care less about depreciation, especially on thier higher end models which usually suffer most. Porsche EVs are pretty low volume too and they're suffering huge depreciation after a year or two and they've got a cachet that MG will most likely never develop. Thinking the Cyberster will somehow hold its value over time much better than other MGs sounds like wishful thinking and just possibly a part of the man maths usually used to justify the high cost of purchase! :ROFLMAO:

With the low sales 1000+ so far in China of the Cyberster. i think they might change strategy especially with the sudden tariffs in EU.

Only an owner wanting to sell or ex demo will allow them to be on the used market dont expect huge discount. I dont think its a limited edition car however. That strategy doesn't help MG but its great for owners who dont want a crash in value! Only dictated by who wants to buy and whose willing to pay. If i did get one I wouldn't sell my 12 month old car for less than an equivalent albeit being EV it will probably be worth less than an equivalent Z4 m40i. Id look at how many are for sale and what theyre priced at. If there are non used or a few id price it close to what is realistic. If someone wants to say 35k for something that costs 60k 18 months ago you know theyre smoking hard drugs and id hang up.

Post 12 months they could flood the market with pre reg cars and adjust the price with discounts to make it more affordable and increase volume, stop selling it altogether in UK/EU because not as if each dealer has more than 4 to 8 serious enquiries right now and it will be rare or only bring 1500 cars per 12 months which would be about right for demand and where the current price is in UK. Thailand have the same price as us. Somehow i reckon they can sell as many as the UK.

Regardless it wont stop future models coming. I got that people weren't happy with the price and want go buy an mx5 ?. Z4 hasnt sold huge numbers its done okay for the climate. Again who's buying? 3-4 year old Z4 M40I still for sale at 34k...why would the Cyberster be of worse value at same age than a car that costs more to run, isnt nearly as powerful and isnt selling loads. In fact this car bar the F Type R and GTR/911/GT4/SL/SLK is good value considering running costs of the rivals and what you're getting. It's EV initial depreciation will be heavy. It will flatten at around mid price after 3 years. There's still 4 years on battery and motor warranty.

✅ Nice Interior/Exterior (headturner)
✅ Super sports car power and decent handling
✅ Low running costs (£7 per 250 miles)
✅ Rarity (which means a lot to some)
✅ No ULEZ charges till Dec 2025
✅ Low tax on first batch (£180)

Probably by next week, to allow us to quote following test drives.
Thank you. My local dealership do not have a clue and are stating end of August for the demonstrators and similar time for the PCP figures. Frankly, they are blowing smoke up my Aris. I appreciate your speedy response, It is a bit of a trek, but I may very well end up coming to you guys :)
