Hey everyone happy monday

So after hitting a deer, in my 2021 pfl lr and replacing part of the bumper an issue has cropped up.

My radar keeps failing its adas calibration.

The garage are checking the wiring for anything loose but the likelihood is the unit was damaged.

Does anyone know if these radar units are coded to the car?
Can I just replace with a second hand unit?
Is there any trick to calibrating these radars?

If anyone has had any experience of this or has any advice I would really welcome it :)

Many many thanks in advance

The radar unit is listed as an ECU and has therefore the potential to be VIN coded, don’t think it is though as this protection is usually only used for main components.

It appears you can get these units second hand for less than £100, so worth a try IMHO…

Thanks for the reply.

After talking to mg these aren’t coded but it took a while………. Hooray

My local ev specialist had done a bunch of work on the car and in the end said they would fit the radar at cost as they had said the old one was working and I think they feel a little guilty :)
They will also re do the adas calibration. I got a new radar for around 300 quid.

So the total bill including replacing 2/3 of the bumper has come to a little over a grand.
Which is not so bad. (Sort of)
Chalking it all up to experience

If you are in Lincoln and need an ev specialist then Vulkan motor engineering in Waddington have been great. Really quick really responsive and totally happy to fit parts that I have bought.

Really recommend them since Charles Warner are closed
