Not an MG
Hi all,

I’ve been following this forum for a little while and seriously considering getting an MG3 SE I’d like to ask as owners if you’ve noticed any issues with yours? I know it’s early days as it’s so new but just to help push me over the line and buy one ? I’ve looked at tones of video reviewers (all pretty positive) but think it’s best to ask the owners really!

Hi have just returned from 2 weeks holiday in Scotland my trophy did a great job up and down hills and over the pot holes on most of the roads, and fuel economy was brilliant.no complaints and so would recommend it.

Good to hear it performed well on the hills of Scotland , that’s a pretty good test ?

I have the trophy mg3 and I’ve gotta say I’m truly impressed done around 750 miles in two weeks ? it drives perfect. No one really talks about the steering function where the car steers for you it is extremely impressive for the price of the car and definitely my favourite part

What is current owners experience with auto emergency breaking? Someone said these cars have issues with parked cars on the side road as mistaking them with actual cars in trafic, is that true?

Yeah it’s not a problem if you turn off the elk and front collision but when it happens it can make you jump for sure not a nice feeling

I have owned the Trophy model in Battersea blue since the beginning of May, and I use it as my everyday car replacing a 2018 DS3.
As I've said since taking delivery, you simply can't beat it in terms of value for money, but what has become apparent over the last couple of months is that there is real integrity and quality to the car that makes it a genuine pleasure to drive. I've mentioned before about the semi autonomous functionality which as said above about the auto steer as very impressive, particularly in terms of the bends in the road that it will tackle, in some ways far more so than my other car which was five time the price (Genesis Electrified G80)!!! Although as Ive said previously the emergency brake function can be too easily triggered. Although for me that only happens when I'm using the Adaptive Cruise control, however being a lazy driver I make use of the autonomous features whenever possible - in town and certainly on the motorway.
The only issue I encountered was when I got a puncture, and in case I needed to replace the tyre I looked around for a same make and model of Kumho tyre. At the time the exact tyre fitted was not available in the UK. However since being in contact with Kumho GB they confirmed they had arranged a shipment of these tyres from Korea, and as of early July they should now be available to order. As for my car, the puncture was repairable so it wasn't an issue.
Overall I remain very pleased with the car, and if you can run to the extra cost for the Trophy- there are some good discounts available, if you like gadgets what you get in extra kit could prove worthwhile.

In 2012 I got a Golf GT as a company car - within 2 weeks I had a puncture. I repaired it using one of those Tar String type repair kits ... the same tyre was still on the car some 40k+ miles later (after rotation front to back) when all 4 tyres were replaced.

Ok so I’ve jumped in the deep end!! I’ve ordered mine went for white SE trim as seems to have everything I wanted - hope ive made the right choice ? should have it in around a week.

Please upload a few pictures later on. I’m contemplating ordering the same model. Wonder if steering wheel is made of the same material as trophy.

Unfortunately the steering wheel is different to the Trophy Dom, the SE isn't 'leather' covered or heated.

This is the SE steering wheel.

Nice one @sczoo , I still have 8 and a half weeks to wait for mine.
Oh no ? the dealer actually kept one in reserve for me because I was uuming and aaring all last week but finally done it. Hope you get yours soon ? seem to be selling like hotcakes don’t they?! Just checking too is the front drivers space spacious? Like it’s not cramped or anything that was one little
Worry I had otherwise I thought I could lose some weight ?

There was loads of room in the front for me and the Mrs on our test drive, but I'm only about 5'10" and under 12 stone.

Thanks Clive that’s good to know actually I’m only 5ft 6 but a little heavier 14 stone I’m sure it will be fine I’m overthinking things as per usual lol!!

I'm 6'3" and 16.5 stone - no problem with space, and the seats are very good!

Perfect thanks Keith that’s good to hear I should probably book a test drive really as never driving a car like this before not even an EV so might be completely different ?

Hi SCZoo. I have a white Trophy, I've done 800 miles in it, and every time I get in it and drive I'm amazed at how well this car drives, and this comes from someone who has owned millions of cars in her time. I had a Toyota Yaris prior to this, and the MG is far bigger and dare I say it, better drive. The storage in the front is amazing, things such as the cup holders in a much more convenient place. I am getting 59 mpg at the moment and rising. New cars tend to take time to reach there highest recorded MPG. Going around corners or bends are just incredible, the occupants in the car hardly move. The rear seats lay slightly back which has made them very comfortable. Not a lot I can say bad about this car.

Hi Ann, that’s great thanks for sharing that with me sounds like it’s a great little car ? I’ve literally ordered the same model you have and colour I really like the look of the white actually ? I’m so glad it’s good to drive as like you I’ve had the big big brands in the past Nissan, Toyota and Hyundai so this is a big change for me. I think I’m still gonna book in a test drive on the weekend just so they can show me how to use it lol ? I’ve only ever driven standard manuals before so big changes lol!
