Horsepower? What's the reality? Many specifications and power figures have been published on the Cyberster, particularly the dual motor variant. Some coming directly from MG material and others various independent reviews. Sometimes the "type" of horsepower measurement is identified while other times it kind of generic. HP, PS, BHP. These are different values but not to the degree we see in the specifications. The numbers I've seen are: 496, 503, 536, and 544. 375kW, 400kW. All ostensibly for the same model? In UK the horsepower has been shown as 496 or 503 and 375kW. In Thailand it 544 hp and 400kW. I tried conversion tables but that doesn't explain it. Is MG producing different power levels for different markets? Do different country regulations come into play. Is it just a "marketing thing"? Not a serious matter but curiosity has me wondering.

Best to stick with kW. It's the SI measure of power, so the same throughout the known universe.
Yes, KW. Ok. But that still doesn't explain the discrepancy between the UK spec of 375KW and the Thai spec of 400KW. Is the actual output different or the same with just different spec on paper?

I gather the UK version has been fairly substantially tuned for local conditions, so it is quite possible they have derated the power to achieve their ends. Probably a software limit, rather than a different motor.

Interesting. Thanks for replying. Appreciate it.

Possibly was dialled back. I think the maximum output is around 540hp. It may be available as an update later on who knows. Its very close to the F type R for quarter mile milliseconds faster. The official acceleration times advertised are .3 faster than tested. Im assuming when it was said to do 3.2 seconds that was a fully powered unlimited prototype.

if the 3.2 isn’t achievable with the UK spec vehicles then MG shouldn’t be advertising it as so on their UK website - which they currently are. I suspect (and hope) it’s similar to the Tesla M3P. - US cars and Shanghai cars both have same 0-60 of 2.9, but have different power outputs due to different batteries (510 v 460bhp). The difference becomes apparent at autobahn speeds where the US spec cars pull harder for longer.

Realistically with no passenger and a driver best I've seen is 3.54 seconds. Subsequent reviews got around that or 3.6. 0.3 seconds faster than X Power. Its not all about speed though. Also AWD Cyberster is heavier than a model 3 by 200kg and more for the AWD.

In reality it shouldn't be heavier it may be down to the doors, motor, battery type. Not to mention the type of steel used. If it weighed around 1800kg with its current output (496hp) it wouldn't have any issues hitting that being EV. At least its got decent tyres unlike the Bridgestones on my previous car.. Absolutely rubbish.
