I am a biker and all new bikes are run in for about 900 miles and then serviced. Dealers emphasise the need for the run in period and any sign it has been ignored, the warranty is invalidated. The service is a check and oil change, the oil usually being contaminated with residue during the manufacturing process. I remember parents running in cars, but thought it was a thing of the past, till I saw the MG3's manual, which instructs on a 900 mile run in period. Do not exceed 75mph, do not apply high revs, do not run the car for long periods at the same speed. The dealer said nothing about running in and there is no 900 mile service.
We are just back from a holiday with the car, so after 2 weeks of ownership it has done nearly 800 miles. We were careful and have treated that as the run in period. Is anyone else running in for the first 900 miles?
