Hi,
I am on Ecotricity fixed rate but can only get the daytime rate of 22.29p as my meter gets no signal so my SMETS2 meter is stuck in dumb mode. I've tried asking for an external "T3 aerial" but I am told that I won't get any upgrades to my meter hardware although the industry may at some point come up with other solutions for customers stuck in dumb mode. I intend to purchase an MG4 Trophy LR and will install a home charger and am wondering if there is any way to get an overnight rate? For example a solution that uses direct comms from charger or vehicle. I suspect not but I am frustrated by the situation.
Finally, I am often at home during the day and considering a small solar installation (I have dormer windows which will doubtless limit the number of panels). Is this likely to be economical given my lack of FIT or smart meter?
I realise my questions are scraping the barrel but I'd like access to cheap electricity with a nice environmental benefit thrown in with it and thought I'd ask before giving up and parking this hope beside my dreams of fibre broadband which always seams to remain +6 years from now.
Thank you,
Hazardlights
