I use car-ferries relatively often, and some operators request that people deactivate the theft-alarm because the vibration (on high-speed ferries) and wave motion (on traditional ferries) can trigger the alarms continually, flattening the car's 12V batteries, and making the car-deck(s) rather noisy.

My previous EV made this easy - just double-click the lock button on the remote or car handle when locking the car.

I can't find anything in the MG5 manual - is this function available, and if so, can some one tell me the 'secret handshake'?

Edit to add: As a newbie, didn't appreciate the 'Question' tab, and I don't see how to add it after publishing. Could a kind moderator magically make this into a question?

No need, see below

As indicated in the thread above, the MG5 doesn't have movement sensors so shouldn't cause a problem.

Solution
Thank you to the moderator for making my post a question;
and thank you both to:
  • MickeySw for pointing out a relevant thread (and not pointing out that my ability to search the forum before asking questions that have been asked before 'has great potential for improvement'); and
  • Alb for summarising the solution thread (which is still worth reading).
