MG4 Trophy LR
I was wondering if this common to all MG4 models, or just my trophy.

When I select “battery health mode “ in my vehicle, it always charges to 100%
And the option no longer seems available under EV management in the app anymore?
I also select 80% in the Octopus energy app and that also get ignored.
Im sure this hasn’t always been the case.

This is confusing as 80% is the recommended value to use on a day to day basis, and only 100% occasionally.

You're in the ZS forum FYI.

1 On the ZS, and I'm sure is the same on the MG4 (albeit I could be wrong) to change the settings for the amount (%) you want to charge, you click that cog looking thing at the top right of your ("EV MANAGEMENT) screenshot, there's a drop down on there and you can basically send that setting to the car as if you're in it.

2 Setting 80% on your Octopus app won't have a blind bit of difference, obviously the octopus app doesn't speak to the car, they do a crude calculation of what 80% approximately is for your vehicle and go with that. It's also adding (approx) 80%, not charging to 80%, if that's what you've set to, so that would only result in (approx) an 80% charge if you were at totally 0%.

If you're sure you've set to battery health mode - 80% or less - and it's routinely charging to 100% - I'd suggest a trip to the dealership because that's a problem, long term. For your battery health.

The main thing you want to be looking for is point #1 i.e. how to set your charge limit. Good luck!

My app doesn't have an option to chose between long journey mode 100% and 80%., mine is standard range.

So what happens when you click that blue field (which I don't have) "Long trip Mode", shouldn't that switch back to "Health"?

I posted in the mg4 forum but admin moved it for some reason?
The cog you refer to is greyed out and unresponsive! Maybe I need to contact the dealership. Hope I get a quicker fix than the last issue I had, took 8 months to fix!!

It would really help if you took a video and screenshots. Debugging remotely via text description isn’t very easy

@ippy1, have you tried tapping the charging screen in the car to change the charge level?

Are you having any other problems with the app? That is, not being able to start the a/c or failing to display the status?

Do you have the latest version of the app? Can you clear the cache as this can sometimes help?

EDIT: For SE SR owners does the app have a cog on the battery page and, if so, is it greyed out?

I don't know about a cog but there is a sort of hexagon at the top right with circle inside. Pressing that gives you the following settings to change:
Scheduled Charging
Scheduled Battery Heating

I've not been able to change from 100% charging in the SE SR, but I'm not bothered as it is an LFP battery.

Hexagon with circle: a nut.

Using the app as others have said the 'nut' at the top right of the charging screen allows you to change the percentage, FYI the text on the app stays as 'long trip mode' but the graphic has the last two bars as a slightly different shade of white.

There is a cog, it's not greyed out, and tapping on it gets a page where you can set scheduled charging and/or scheduled battery heating. (I didn't actually know about this, thanks for the heads-up).

I have been unable to change the mode to battery health either on the app or on the car! My ‘nut’ on the app doesn’t have that option. Just scheduled charging and battery heating options.
I cannot find anywhere on the car screen that gives that option either.
MG4 SR

For ZS, and I would strongly believe MG4 also, there is no option to set battery charge limit on standard range. This is only a feature on the long range, hence why SR owners cannot utilise/see it. It is also nothing to worry about as it's different battery chemistries - it doesn't really matter frequently charging to 100% on the SR.

MG4 SR
The option is not available to SR as the battery chemistry is different.

I do not have your problem, I set mine to 80% either in the app or in the car and that's what it does. You must have a software glitch.
As for the Octopus Energy app, one cannot set a maximum, i.e. 80% you may only ask it to add a percentage. So, If I at 50%, add 30% to get to 80%. Personally, I always use the MG app or car screen.
