Hi Everybody,

I need help with your expertise on installing MG 11kW 3-phase charger.
Here in Thailand they do not have a lot of experience with 3 Phase, only with 1 phase.

The cables and breakers are laid from my fuse box to the garage, so far so good. I have power on all 3 phases.

When switching on the power the MG charger gives several error codes via blinking LED. The electricians gave up here. They say power is in the garage so we are finished.

Can someone identify what problems the error codes are showing and explain it in simple words to me. Than I could start investigating the problem.
I guess some kind of Neutral, Ground problem.

Thanks in advance

I assume that you know this by measuring the voltage from each phase (brown, black, and grey by the looks) and neutral (blue) with a multimeter, and it measures around 220-240VAC.

I can't find a manual for your style of MG EVSE; the one that comes up is mostly silver with a black triangle at the bottom, with a place to dock the cable in the middle of that triangle:

It seems to have totally different fault flash codes.

One possibility is the confusion about mains colours, especially USA versus Europe. Is it possible to open the back of the EVSE and see where the wires enter? It may be that neutral is black and blue is a phase, for example. Neutral is supposed to be light blue (like sky blue), dark blue is sometimes a phase. The blue wire to your EVSE looks pretty dark in the video.

In the above diagram, you can see that the terminals are labelled PE, N, L1, L2, and L3,even though some labels are partly obscured by wires. Your model might be different to the above.

They might have followed the above colour scheme, in which case black and blue (neutral and L3) could be swapped.

Thanks, I also only found this manual. Voltage is good all phases around 230V
I compared the cabling in a friends house. All the same as mine with one exception, he got a digital meter and I have an analog meter. His charger is not MG.

Yes, but is it 230V with respect to the neutral of the EVSE, that's my point. The EVSE logic needs a power supply, and if the wiring is transposed it will see some 400V from L1 to its "neutral", so it might be complaining about that. In fact, if so, it's probably doing the power supply harm.

This is a long shot, but without that manual, we have little else to go by.

Update

After long discussion with the dealer and involving the MG head office in Bangkok, finally MG sent another technician to check. This one took the time and really checked the charger.
As suspected by me and told MG three weeks ago the charger is simply broken.
They will replace it but it will take minimum 4 weeks to do so.

I hope I can give a final update by then.

update:
MG still did not replace the broken charger and told me now, maybe end of December. That would than be 4 months.
In the meantime I bought another wall charger from another company, connected it and it worked at the first try.
