MG4 SE LR
I've just tried to renew my insurance & got the best quote from Churchill via Compare the Market. When I clicked through to buy, I got an error on Churchill's site & spent 45 minutes on the phone before they told me they couldn't insure an MG4 SE Long Range as it's not a listed model on their system. They have SE, Trophy, Trophy Long Range & Trophy Extended Range listed & even though I pointed out the error of their ways, they declined to insure me. Has anyone else been able to insure an SE LR through Churchill?

Somewhere on here you'll find a post with the insurance codes for the different MG4 models ... at least those originally released. (SE SR, SE LR, Trophy LR).

Edit: found it via the Wiki post:

I had a similar experience trying to insure my Trophy before I picked it up from the dealer at the beginning of March 2023. I had suspended a policy with Direct Line, part of the same group as Churchill, covering my previous car which had been sold on. When I tried to reactivate the policy I was told the MG4 didn't exist so they could not insure it. I had a similar experience with Tesco's on-line page, but joy with Aviva who quoted a fair price and got the business.

... I think we can all have (over the years) of trying to insure a "non-standard" new car, as dictated by the computer, my 2nd to last one was a Tiguan 170 sport (1st in the country in 2008), which is still registered with the DVLA as a 140bhp (i.e. slightly cheaper insurance over the past 16 years), and then more recently the MG4 SE (Sept 2022), which was originally registered as a MG ZS EV? - it does pan out over time, at the end of the day its the insurance company to sort out their systems - just go with the 2nd in line with the quote via Compare the Market - the good news is that I've just checked this year and prices are coming down (y)

Looks like they've lost your business then. The insurance companies seem to be taking turns on who will offer the best EV insurance. Last year for me it was LV who on renewal added nearly £200 to the price so this year I'm with Aviva Zero at the same price as last year.

I was Admiral for the first "year" (well, 7 months), then Aviva Zero last year, and now The AA this year.

They certainly did, as did CtM. Aviva wanted an additional £200 this year. I ended up with the AA via Confused.com for slightly less than I paid last year & better cover than the Churchill policy.

I just renewed with Churchill, who were £350 less than Admiral for the exact same level of cover. Just makes no sense. The only thing changed since last year is that I have one more year of NCB and the car had a very minor prang that the other party admitted fault over so cost Admiral nothing.

.... whereas I just tried them! more than double (£850 :ROFLMAO: ) that what I've been quoted so far (£400ish)!

I don't see why they have Trophy and Trophy LR as separate models, all Trophy models are LR except the extended range, i.e. there is no Trophy SR.

I went to insure my new MG3Hybrid with my insurance I had with our Honda Jazz but they wouldn't.So went to Churchill and Budget direct they wouldn't also.Aviva wanted just over a £1000.Gave them the heave ho.Ended up with Hastings who initially quoted £668 without a reg.Couldn't get the reg till the day before I picked the car up and guess what it went up to £707 minus £255 from my initial insures being Sainsbury's Bank.So that equates to £452.Next year will be looking around.

Had my Churchill insurance premium renewal through, which surprisingly has gone down £90 from last years. No change to the policy details either.
I shopped around on the Go Compare comparison site and got it down even more, still with Churchill.

Saved me £110 from last years premium, plus they give you free £250 excess cover. I don’t pay any voluntary excess and the compulsory is £300, so any claim I would pay £50 excess from my reckoning.
