Couple of odd ones today... any thoughts?

Hi all.

Couple of little issues today.

1. I always switch LKA and brake assist to alert. I take the same journey every day to work. On the side of one road there is a parked car that is ALWAYS in the same place. Today, completely out of the blue, I got an alert on overtaking it. No car coming the opposite direction. Only had the car for nearly two weeks, never done it before. Odd.

2. My infotainment screen decided to just switch off - randomly after I switched the air-con off. I pressed the home button and it came back on, but still, was odd.

Anyone else experienced similar issues?

Also, anyone has any issues with their DAB radio intermittently just cutting out? Literally for half a second the signal fades and then comes back on, but seems to happy regularly?

Can't speak for the LKA/Screen issue but have definitely had the DAB issue with cutting out. It's basically unusable for me, but I use carplay and apple music anyway so not a big problem for me.

I've had the issue where the radio gets stuck on a channel and you can't change it, got a software update under warranty (even though I was assured when I got the car in February that it had all the latest software).

However, this sounds different to that.

Is it possible you are changing from one DAB signal region/tower to another and the car is switching between them?

Which model do you have and is it a UK car?

The latest versions in the UK are R59 for Trophy models and R33 for SEs.

Yes both of these things have happened to me too, the screen often goes blank and I have to press the home button to reset, it's not a real problem, I've become used to it.

BUT in a particular situation auto braking is scary, living in the countryside and not far from home, a car is often parked outside of a house, right on a bend in the road, as I approach the parked car, the radar in my MG4 and Hyundai Tucson both see the car as being directly in front of them, the Tucson gives an audible warning, but the MG4 applies emergency braking, that is very scary the first time it happened.
The MG4 has applied the emergency brakes on several occasions now, when it thinks something isn't right, but actually it's fine, it's happened travelling on a straight road too.
One day I fear someone traveling too close behind won't react quickly enough and may cause a rear end shunt, if that were to happen I wonder what an insurance company would make of it!

I've had the DAB radio issue too. My quick fix is to switch to FM and then immediately back to DAB. Worked for me. Although I now listen to Greatest Hits on FM as it's more reliable on my new regular journey.

SE LR, I recently picked up the car and it has R21. I called and asked about getting it updated but they said they can't do it unless either it's in for service or there's a software problem. Maybe the DAB issue could convince them to give me R33.

That's what I did. I told them the DAB radio kept loosing the signal and the Bluetooth connection to my phone was unreliable. The software was updated FOC

Yes, you should simply report a problem and ask it to be fixed under warranty, classic things that need an infotainment update are: bluetooth dropping out, AA/CarPlay dropping out, DAB radio dropping out, infotainment going dark and needing a reboot etc...

It is silly that we can't insist on updates but that's how it works.

It is MG that insist on this, not the dealer. My dealer on one visit even said to me: "I wouldn't be surprised if you had problem X... do you?" and my nod was sufficient to make the claim with MG and get the update.

The other thing you can do is to complain that your car doesn't have an external temperature display, and you believe that is a safety issue.
