The owners handbook shows how to replace a front indicator bulb on p279. The diagram looks unlike any view under my bonnet. Has anyone succeeded in changing the indicator bulb and if so how?

Page 278 in my manual?

Self explanatory.

Disconnecting the battery is overkill.

Here’s the whole story. An MG approved body shop repaired a broken headlight but afterwards neither the new headlight nor the associated indicator ( which was working on the drive to the body shop) worked. So I went to the MG dealer I bought it from and they found a blown headlight fuse. They didn’t have replacement but advised a visit to Halfords to get a new one quickly. The fuse should work for both headlight and indicator. The Halfords fuse got the headlight working but not the indicator and MG said I’d need a new indicator lamp because there had clearly been damage to the lamp holder and the wheel arch liner behind it. Since then I’ve had a series of odd on-screen messages about auto headlights not working and sidelights being left on which I’d never seen before. Today I was warned of low tyre pressure and on inflating the tyre noticed, through a hole in the wheel arch liner, a wire dangling. The plug fitted the nearby indicator socket and on connecting the two , everything works properly.

Is the fuse a standard 2 bladed one or a 3 bladed one which MG seem to favour?
If it's a 3 bladed one and Halford's have only replaced it with a 2 bladed one that might be why the indicator isn't working.

In other words - whilst being MG-approved they were still incompetent. :)

I had the blown fuse to show Halfords. 2-bladed.
