Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2 Install

It has a sticky pad so it is firmly fixed in place, it does come off easily if pulled from the edge if needed, ours started off in the van then into the car and back into the van I ordered another this morning so they can stay in place.

I think that you can wash the sticky but with WUL under the tap to bring back it's full stickiness but not confirmed it yet.

I got another as it is an option for putting the phone and you can also run two sat nags, the car one is a bit pants anyway, it works but only on a very basic level, G maps via AA is much more bettered and you can use the mic, in fact stupidly it is the only way you can use the mic.
When you say g maps via AA you mean Google Maps or it is something else?

Going off piste a bit, but I use Android Auto with Magic Earth as it is the only one that will use my Contacts onscreen, but still not ideal. What I can't get my head round is the lack of joined up thinking. If zi use my phone the car will access my phones contacts, but if I use the cars Sat Nav, you have to tediously enter each contact that you use regularly, although you can speed that up a bit if you enter the What4Words for each contact, which I painstakingly added to the Contracts on my phone because all Sat Nsv are so different.
Why do you need contacts on your sat nav?

Of course, but first you have to look up the address on your phone (unless you know it off the top of your head, perhaps fit a couple but not all) then you have to type it in and if you are using the inbuilt sat nav unless you are left handed it is difficult. Far easier to tap to open contacts, scroll to your contact and tap it, like you do on most sat nav apps e.g. Sygic, Tom Tom etc

Okay I see the issue, no idea how to fix it, as never used it that way or seen anyone do it, I assumed that G Maps would but even though Google has all my contacts and emails filed, I can't seem to access it from my phone.

If you have G Maps, on AA, can you speak to it and ask for a phone number then ask it to navigate to the address on file?

I can't check as the boss is off in the car today, again.

I tried it but couldn't get Google Assistant (which is the voice recognition part) to work reliably, it was very hit and miss snc I didn't like storing my contact details in Google's cloud - they are frequently reported as bring hacked, besides you need to have a data connection for it all to work, and diary from cost I prefer to be in control. I travel abroad a lot so I need to have everything I need on my phone. I only added Magic Earth as a suggestion from another member so that I could access my contacts on Android Auto. I still think the the MG sat nsv ys the one to go with when in the car, it works really well and you get u years of free updates, the same as the warranty

I tried Magic Earth on my last trip and found it very much like a chocolate teapot, but some people seem to get on with it, I prefer G maps or CoPilot I've tried them all over the years, TomTom used to be really good as a device but the app is crapola.

I agree, I have Copilot mainly for use in USA, Sygic and Tomtom and now Magic Earth. Thd thing ys when you need technology you can guarantee it tell let you down ?

Just looking further into it.

You do hear of data theft, if they want my address list they can have it.

To link Google Contacts with Google Maps, you can search for a contact's name or address in Google Maps and select the contact to see it on the map. You can't add or hide contacts on the map from a computer.

If your contacts aren't showing up in Google Maps, you can try these steps:
  • Ensure that Web and App Activity is turned on
  • Verify that the contact's name and address are in your Google Contacts
  • Ensure that Google Maps can access your contacts

You can also save contact information from your signed-in devices to your Google Account. This data can be used to make contacts easier to interact with across Google services. To do this, you can:
  1. Go to the People & Sharing section of your Google Account
  2. Select Contact info from your devices under Contacts
  3. Turn Save contact info from your signed-in devices on or off

I fitted the dash cam this morning then I went for a run to check the aim and the recording, all was fine, the cable that came with it was about (6") 15cm too long but it comes with more than enough clips to take up the slack, sadly the lens on mine is on the right, I did try it on the left of the mirror but it stuck out too far into the passenger's field of view, not over the moon with its location after looking at the pictures below so I may move it down and behind the mirror.

It does interfere with the driver's visor but I'm more bigger than the boss so it'll be fine.
