Feel free to merge with a more appropiate cost thread.

Thought I'd share the cost of my first EV experience after reaching 2000 miles, given that I only public charge.

I've spent £216 for 587kWh of energy. Taking into account the £45 bp pulse credit, delivery mileage and current remaining %, that's 3.4 miles per kWh, which I think is OK for an XP, given that I've done a few "spirited" drives. Compared to a 40mpg, 1.46 per litre ice, that's a saving of £106 on fuel.

Most I've paid to charge is 77p and least is 32p. Most of the time it's 44p.

So even public charging only can work out cheaper than ICE.

Here's my 8500 mile summary.

£104.20 spent home charging overnight at 8.5p (Octopus Go)
£294.83 spent on Public Charging on longer trips ?

£399.03 Total for 8500 miles = 4.694p per mile.

In comparison my Golf R cost 19.38p per mile averaging 30.87mpg (using Shell Vpower and Tesco 99 Momentum) over two years (similar driving and trips) at an an average fuel price of £1.32 per litre.

So in conclusion, on energy consumption costs, my Xpower costs me around a quarter of my Golf R.

This is where performance EV's really do well IMHO against faster performance ICE cars which have poor mpg.

I am on £375.65 for 4873 miles, around 8p per mile, used 1744.78 kWh so averaging 2.79 miles per kWh. That's after 289 days of ownership (16.86 miles per day).

Wow, 4000 miles for what it used to cost me to fill my tank in my last car and get maybe 400 miles.
With the six hours at 7p per kWh for the whole house our electricity costs have fallen overall despite using over 1,000 kWh more.

I'm in the same boat. I'm with E.on Next Drive and get 7 hours at 6.9p/Kw and have load shifted the washing machine, bread maker etc. to run on the cheap rate so although the daytime tariff is more I'm paying less overall especially when you take into account how much I was paying for diesel.

It was costing me 28p/mile to run my 2.0 Diesel Focus now in winter it's 3.2p/mile and 1.5p/mile in summer if I drive sensibly.

We got a great result last night. I did an equalisation charge from 8% to 100% and added 73kW. It cost £5.11 and should yield over 320 miles. The better news, the OIG schedule ran from 19.15 to 11.30 with only one break from 21.00 to 22.15 so most of that time gave the whole house cheap electricity. The washer, showers etc all got plenty of use.

Hi all - I've done almost 25,000 miles in my MG4 Trophy Long Range since last April and am providing my charging/cost stats in case people are curious.

I am UK based and on the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff which as many of you know, provides cheaper electricity during the night. I have the Ohme home charger which is set up to charge during the cheaper 6 hour window though there have been a couple of days where I've overwritten this.

My Ohme app says that in total I've spent £581.51 on charging the car since May 2023. Before I got the home charger I did spend the first two weeks using public fast charging - I can't remember how many miles were on the clock when I got the home charger installed but I would say - with great confidence - that at least 24,000 of the miles driven were done via my home charging which, at worse, equates to 2.42p per mile.

Just to provide further context, my regular journey to and from work (which covers over 95% of the miles I have driven) is a 90 mile round trip which has an average speed of 48 miles per hour with at least 40 of those miles at motorway speed. I tend to keep the car in 'Eco mode' but my driving style on the journey home is the polar opposite of someone wanting to maximise their miles per Kwh so I have to admit, I'm actually really pleased with the running cost of the MG4.

As per the recommended guidance, I also have set the car to only charge the battery up to 80% so as to preserve battery life.
