What you having for your Tea/Dinner, tonight. ?

Just come across this thread.
It's Friday, therefore we will be having the same thing we've had every Friday we've been at home for the last 35 years : a mild chicken curry and a bottle of Gallo's White Zinfandel.
Rounds the week off nicely.
To be fair 35 years ago we were drinking red or white. Remember Piat d'Or ( cheap crap made for the masses of the great unwashed ) ? And occasionally even something French ?, but we've settled. Got to be the last 20 years.

That sounds bloody lovely! Where was it you said you lived? ???

Picture says it all.

I got that in Craigdon Mountain Sports at Hillend on the outskirts of Edinburgh. I have to say it was delicious and beats Pot Noodles into a cocked hat, but so it should be at £7.50 a pop. Still, I saved £7.50 by not staying at the camp site just down the road, which turned out to be fully booked. Privacy is better here and toilets and running water are over-rated.

I ended up going inside to eat, because although the car said it was 15°C outside, there was a bit of wind chill.

Last night I had chicken Jalfreezi and rice from a sealed boil in the bag (or eat cold from the pack).
I also bought a pasta bag as well - both from Go Outdoors and £2 each. The chicken was superb.

I asked about that sort of thing in Sainsbury's but they didn't seem to have anything in the boil in the bag line.
I think the outdoors type shops are probably best. Go Outdoors certainly had a few different types. Cotswold at Dobbies. Decathlon. Etc

Wednesday it was home made spicy chicken and rice.

Thursday it was home made spicy chicken and chips.

Last night it was home made spicy chicken and naan bread.

Tonight it will NOT be home made spicy chicken.
Aye leftovers are alright but it’s right nice when there’s none left.

Bloody hell!! Serious off- roading there Rolfe ?
No problems with excess weight ( the car, not you) on muddy ( sinky?) surfaces ? Or is it just clever angled shot and you're actually parked on the local supermarket carpark ?

It's deceptive. The tracks you can see are tractor ruts in fairly dry earth. It's not muddy. It seems to be the floor of an old quarry, probably from when the road was built. Not at all sinky. Caliban's tyres barely left a mark.

Just wandered into a mountain sports shop here in Ullapool. These meals are mostly £10.50 or £11 and some are £13. Although they're special high energy ones with 800 calories rather than 600. I wandered back out again. I might pick up one or two more from Craigdon at that rate.

This is the only one I have left. They are dated November 2026 and were £2.50 each after discount. The chicken was beautiful.
First time I’m down in Granton or through in Airdrie / Coatbridge areas I’ll be visiting on of their stores to pick up some more.

Very handy even for emergency supplies or if, like me, one’s a cheapskate with an old car without the built in chef’s complete kitchen and one can’t boil the kettle at will - - just tear open the pack and eat it ? cold ??

While i was running the MG4 down to below 10% for the ‘Big Sleep’ charge. I kept circling the barkers waiting for the ‘Pan Aux Choco’s to come out. Made it all the way home without loosing them. Just like those AA tennis ball on the tyre, on the bonnet, drive in a figure of eight tests at motor shows. Which nobody did except the instructor! Probably easy in an EV ;)
