Do I vibe?

It varies, so I wonder if it's my own paranoia at times, I certainly had a couple cattle grid moments.

Could I live with it? Yes absolutely. 80% of my driving is on A roads. But I also feel like given I made clear during several emails and phonecalls that I wouldn't be happy with a lemon - I should be consistent! It's a large investment and the entire point was to have something new, without faults.

Well at least you can enjoy it for regular 3.8 second bursts!

Be quicker in mine though what with my 0 to 60mph time of 3.51 seconds.

Not sure I've ever mentioned it to be honest? ???
If anyone asks me what's the 0-60 time, which they inevitably do. I just say 3.5 secs. ? Not lying am i. ??

Can I ask, for those who could have rejected earlier on, would you have? I like the car, but a four year lease seems like a long time and a lot of vibes. To be putting up with. It's surely going to forever be known as a lemon batch, so there's no hope of positive equity in four years time, so I'll be handing it back almost certainly.
I didn't reject because I kept being told that MG were working on a fix, I really liked my car so gave my dealer the benefit of the doubt and waited.

Unfortunately my dealer closed the MG franchise last May..not sure why..I have heard MG wanted bigger showrooms at the dealers expense. They still sell about another 6 well known brands.

Then all this messing about, MG have already confirmed by email that they would fix my car by installing the level 2 fix(suspension parts), then the next day took it away saying that the fix does not work and the vibration is just a 'characteristic'.

So why are there X Powers out there with no vibration..because this issue was fixed at build but MG UK do not want to go to the expense of fixing the older models.

It sounds like they are still selling cars with the vibration, which is very poor, seeing that they have known about this since October 2023..probably before.

Lots of MG4s have been sat in compounds etc so it's been a lottery if you get a 2023 or 2024 build.

So I'm rejecting now after a year

Thinking about it, it's a crying shame, about this bloody vibe problem/fiasco.
Coz when you think about it, the power of this car (0-60 In 3.51 secs and the quarter mile in 11.84 secs) ? And the price of it, is actually quite staggering. ??

Hey! I've lost 12kg since that run and what with removing all the passenger seats I'm creating an MG4 X Power Super Leggera!

That will be the featherweight 1.65 TON version. ?

Back on topic, sorry to hear you have the vibes - that you are even having to way up pros 'n cons of living with it is a complete travesty. ?

Maybe give it a try at 65 on the motorway on the flat with acc on. I have some vibes but when cruising they are not noticable until it adds power to climb a hill or something. As such I can put up with it but then it doesn't sound like mine are as bad as some peoples. Flat out accelerating through the vibe zone is very noticable.

Got me wondering, if the two motors spin at the same speed?

Could the vibes be a beat caused by the different speeds?

How different are the suspensions between the X and the ordinary?

Unsure of the relative speeds of the motors at a given point but MG have already admitted in that leaked technical bulletin that the excitation source is a driveshaft.

Regarding the suspension, as far I'm aware it has slightly stiffer spring rates and anti-roll bars.

That implies the drive shaft is out of balance?
Should be easy enough to fix.
I think if it was that easy, MG would have rolled out replacing the problematic driveshaft/s.

My take on it on it is a more complex interaction with other rotational parts in the cars dual drive train that is creating this resonance vibration but I guess only SAIC know the full story and it's clearly 'too expensive' for them to retrofit/fix.

That's what we said several months ago!

Edit: Last Bloody Year in fact!!!

I also stated that I didn't think the front driveshafts location/position was particularly ideal.

Another reason us early adopters were being patient.

Oooo, an out of balance driveshaft?

Won't take too much effort to sort that out will it?

Um........

Here is that post.....

MG4 X Power Vibe/Hum 65 to 75mph

Just looking back through my myriad of posts and I am very dissapointed to see my comments trying to excuse the vibes.
Not make a big deal of it as it were....

Oh, it's only a few vibes, what's the worry.

Doesn't bother me too much

I can drive round them if needs be.

I don't use the faster roads very often.

They seem to be really minimal now.

They are barely perceptible some days.

**** your are Bricktop!

Stockholm Syndrome made real.

Making excuses for why I was putting up with something, that I quite clearly should not be experiencing or putting up with at all.

I said this in one of my posts October 6th last year....

I'm not considering rejection (yet!) but feel disappointed that some engineer in MG somewhere said...

That will do.......
They might not notice!

As it seems at this stage that a fix is unlikely, I'm resigned to gauging whether this is something I can live with. I had a pleasant drive to work today, mostly under 60 mph due to speed limits rather than choice. That would be 90% of my journeys.

That said, I’m still a bit uneasy about the car’s longevity on a 4-year lease. I’m concerned about paying for wear and tear during that last year, caused by a vibration issue that I’ve been repeatedly assured was fixed. I do feel cheated there. I will most likely ask for a replacement, as they have insisted their current stock doesn't have the issue, perhaps I'm just the first one!

On a separate note, charging has been quite challenging—Shell keeps declining wireless payments, and BP Pulse fails to communicate with the car. JOY!

I think a further test drive tonight on the motorway is in order... Need to sit there and vibe for a while, see if I could stomach a 3 hour drive.

Question - Does it get any better after the car settles in? - If it's due to improve even slightly, that might sway me.

I've driven 8500 miles and have had the car for a year, no change in vibration for me unfortunately.

10000 miles in.

Mine improved with a tyre change, then improved slightly again with a psi change.

But they are still there and unacceptable.

Also sure they are becoming more noticeable......

It's a fair old read but all your questions will be here.....

Warning. A cup of T and a biscuits will be required.
