I think that image is 'shopped, as the charge port on the MG4 isn't on that side and doesn't open that way.![]()
Doing something like this is tempting if you have an unshaded South aspect.I've thought about buying an oak car port and covering it with as many panels as would fit, adding a decent size lithium ion battery bank (or battery from a crashed ev for example) and hey presto, your own power station.
Oh yes I remember someone saying that on here but forgot it was you. What you don't know about me is that I already live off grid with no connection to the national grid.

Sounds like you know what you are doing then and would just expand your existing system!
Been looking into this myself as I can also use for cover on rainy days, wood store, battery etc. It can be fitted in back garden with south facing as I have access for car, attaching solar panels should be straightforward. Visually it keeps space open. What you don't know about me is that I already live off grid with no connection to the national grid.
5 years I've been self sufficient and all you need is to take the voltage from the panels to a dedicated inverter.
This not only charges the battery bank but can use the surplus to charge the car.
Slowly of course, but then at night the battery can take over and continue charging the car.
I already have a Tesla Home Charging point and in the summer I very often plug in the car for some free miles.
I've run out of roof so a carport would be a great way to add mote panels quickly and cheaply. ?
The car really comes into its own during the winter as I use V2L to charge my batterys.
I want to know how long that cable is that he is holdingI think that image is 'shopped, as the charge port on the MG4 isn't on that side and doesn't open that way.![]()
