Anyone here fly a drone?

Wow seriously all good stuff and better everybody survived, time and cost ended my flying still solo was definitely a highlight for me.
Best flight I did was 4 pilots rented a 172 flew from Hoxton park Sydney and visited the international air show in Melbourne awesome weekend .
I only rented club aircraft so the cost does add up. Eventually you get bored with the '$100 hamburger' trips, run out of mates you want to see what it's like. I ended up flying aerobatics to keep current. I always wanted to fly in to an airshow, the closest I got was landing at Newmarket race course and taking a courtesy coach to RAF Mildenhall for the show.

I fly a DJI Mavic Air, great fun. During lockdown I studied for the CAA A2 CofC and often use the drone to take pics and video at my archery club.

I also used to fly hang gliders, good fun, but so frustrating in the UK.

When I was in the Army we had a day (yup, just a day) at Crickhowell in South Wales attempting to fly a hang glider.

I flew mine after a morning learning how to get off the ground.

Just the once mind, and for a terrifying distance of circa 150ft, at the dizzying altitude of possibly 20ft. (Plus or minus 5ft)

I was due try again straight after but one of my best buddies had just plunged into the ground and broke both of his arms.

I never 'flew' again.

Great times.

Oh on a side note, we were static line parachuting the year after in Germany and on our 2nd jump he managed to land badly and broke his leg.

I could hear him screaming as I was coming in to land.

Happy days. ???

Did he ever think, perhaps, the Army wasn't for him. ????
