MG4 TROPHY Type 2 Cable

I was told by sales team that my MG4 TROPHY will come with Type 2 cable. Buying it in UK
1. I thought I'd check if others got Type 2 cable or not?
2. If yes, did the cable you got with Trophy support 11kW / 3 phase charging?

My Trophy only came with a granny lead. Some reports say leased cars also come with a type 2. Have the sales team specified a type 2 and granny lead in writing?
I think the Trophy will only charge at 7kW although the extended range model may be different.

My Trophy came with both Granny and Type 2 cable.

I think the Trophy will only charge at 7kW although the extended range model may be different.

"Phase 1" Trophy will charge at, nominally, 11kW with a three phase cable. I usually get around 10kW into the car on a 22kW charger.

If you're buying a Trophy LR (64kWh) new now it will not have 3-phase AC charging - it will have a single phase 6.6kW onboard charger, so a single phase 32A Type 2 cable will be all you need.

When my lease car was delivered it came with a granny charger and a type 2 cable. The delivery guy said they had a shed load of the type 2 cables and just put them in every car.

If you are looking for any logical or standard rule you probably won't find one. I suspect the rule of thumb is if there are loads sitting in a stock room somewhere they will be supplied with the car, once the stocks are gone they don't bother with a re-order. Probably linked to how many have arrived on the last container.

Yes my car came with a Type 2 cable and a Type 2 to 13A (3KW) 3 pin power unit (Is this what others are calling a granny adaptor?)
Its only a 7KW single phase cable, suitable for home charging and 7KW charging at Type2 public chargers.
I've since bought a Type 2 22KW 3phase cable from Amazon. This is the one I keep in the car. The 7KW cable I use for home charging with my Ohme wall charger.

I think the 5 does but not the 4.

Only the earlier Model Year 22 long range cars offered 3-phase 11kW charging. The MY23 update (when the rear wiper was added) changed that to single phase 6.6kW charging. I think it's only the Extended Range (77kWh battery) that now supports 3-phase charging. (All details pertaining to the MG4 models in the UK - just to clarify for any non-UK readers who wish to disagree).

If you find that your new Trophy LR car has a black roof and no rear wiper, then it was actually built in late 2022 / early 2023 so has been lying around somewhere for well over a year, nearly 2.

Unless you regularly use three phase you probably don't want that cable anyway. They're much thicker and heavier to lug around.
